in Anal Cancer #1

Has anyone else had herpes outbreaks during radiation therapy? I'm getting outbreak after outbreak. Is it because my immune system is compromised, or is the radiation to the pelvis triggering the outbreak?

    I just saw your other post and it would go along with low blood counts, white blood cells for fighting bacteria and virus get low along with red blood cells. I got terrible cold sores the week I was in the hospital with low blood counts and sepsis. Sorry. It just adds insult to injury doesn't it?

    I take valacyclovir (spelling should be close) daily as a preventative measure and was doing that throughout my treatment. Maybe talk to your doctor about that because you surely do not need anything else going on!
