Recurrence Squamous Cell Carcinoma?
My first post, Hi everybody. I had stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma and was treated with Surgery,Chemo and Radiation. I have been clear since January 2015 until very recently. I have Developed a sore red lump on roof of my mouth and awaiting biopsy. If this truely is the evil monster coming back what can I expect as far as treatment? I had a very slim chance to recover the first time but I did. I will recover again. Will I get the same treatments at more intense levels or will it be totally different this time? I have heard some people talk of hormone treatments? Any responses would be very appreciated especially from somebody with recurrence. Thanks.

My husband has just recently completed treatment (Chemo) for recurrence and is officially in remission. Everyone's options are different, so I have no comments on that. Hang in there, and let us know how you do with your biopsy.

Still waiting on Biopsy. You would think that the doctor would want it ASAP. The NOT KNOWING is driving me nuts! I think its worse than cancer itself.
Breathe, just breathe.
When I worked EMS in NYC we used to say, that if the heart attack doesnt kill you, the hospital bill will.
Thats how I think of waiting for results!

is hard emotionally....the hurry up and wait syndrome of cancer treatment. The "I want to know now/please don't tell me" feeling when we're scared and anxious. I know what you're feeling. I just went through that with a biopsy....then they told me they were sending it in to genetic testing for PD-l1...when I hadn't heard in TWO WEEKS, I went to see the Oncologist. He found out they hadn't sent the tissue in...paperwork screw up....now I'm hanging to dry for another two weeks! If you can do it....shove the cancer thinking out the door, with the thought that you'll know soon enough....that for today you DON'T have cancer, and you won't till somebody in the know tells you that you do. HUGS!!

Thanks for encouragement. I
Thanks for encouragement. I really needed it. I was feeling pretty low. Still waiting on biopsy believe it or not. I am finally getting it on Tuesday. Seems like none of my doctors are too concerned about time. Meanwhile new symptoms are popping up. It is getting hard to swallow, my sinus is painful, feel week and tired as well as dizzy. I dont care how sick I get I will NEVER give up fighting.

A little procrastination can be a good thing, make the most of it. We just got an expensive PET scan and it turns out, that the test should not have been done so soon after treatment. The test is basically invalid at that point. Now we have to wait a long time before they can do it again.

Got my biopsy done today.It
Got my biopsy done today. It did not go as well as I had hoped. I thought there was one spot and just a small sample would be taken with a needle biopsy. They ended up doing punch biopsy taking 3 samples that hurt like crazy, leaving holes closely to the size of a pencil eraser. My surgeon was gone before I woke up and just left a note to follow up in 10 days with a couple prescriptions. Looking at holes, 2 look pink and not bad but the one spot that was sore and the reason why I went in appears to have a cavity underneath with necrotic tissue. On a good note they gave me a really good orange popsicle when I woke up. I will post more when I get results.

Hi Phrannie, Hope everything goes well. It is so tiring just waiting. Sometimes I feel that I lost control. The Medical Community has taken it away. Do not like that, scares Me more You are such a Tropper. By the way, love the new picture, you look fabulous !! Lisa
