exercises during chemo
Hi, I've had two bouts of chemotherapy so far.
The first two weeks after chemo I am usually hospitalized in a clean room, but usually by the third week I am well enough to come home.
However I'm as weak as a baby. I have an artificial vein in my right shoulder, so it means I cannot lift my right arm or put any stress on it.
Are there any easy and safe exercises I can do at home with no equipment, without overstraining myself? It's only been two months but my muscles are already shrinking away and most movements leave me cramping and rolling around the floor.
Any advice welcome.
I'd really like to stop myself from becoming pajama clad goo. Plus it would give me something to do, as I'm pretty much banned from venturing outside.

Gentle exercise
JJ, I highly recommend that you get a DVD for gentle exercise. They can be engaging and motivating. Last time that I was sick, I did Tai Chi. It is great to help with concentration, healing, and boosting that immune system. You can buy a DVD or use online youtube. There is lots out there and you can review a few. I just bought a new DVD, Mobility and Bone Strengheneing For Beginners with Miranda Esmonde White. It is gentle.
The key is to pick something that you like. that is gentle, and that you look forward to doing. It will help with the mood to as you strengthen your body and help your cells get strong.
If you find a good Tai Chi DVD, post is here to share if you can. I used to use Tai Chi with autistic kids and they loved it. It looks weird at first, but becomes like a dance of sorts and you will feel the gentle stretch.

I used to do taichi when I was a kid, this is a great idea!
I'm going in for chemo again tomorrow so I'll start taichi when I'm back on my feet and I'll let you know how it goes!
