Back Again
Hello everyone, Well after 7 years I'm back again! This is not a recurrence, it a new breast cancer on the left breast this time. I had surgery, chemo and radiation the first time around on the right breast, then took meds. for 5 years. I so thought this was over!!!
Well, I had surgery on April 26, 2017 on the left breast and according to my surgeon, the surgery was a success. However, he is still recommending chemo and radiation. I see the medical oncologist next Tuesday to get her recommendation.
This first time around I communicated with people from this site and it was very helpful so I'm here asking for your help once. again.
I'm feeling very overwhelmed and a bit scared. Can I do this again? I'm almost 60 years old; OK 59 1/2.
Signed,
Here we go again

Hi Sparkle1
I too have a new primary it's in my right breast. I haven't had surgery yet, and I just was told that my surgery date was moved to a week later. I feel like you ;my cancer was 8 years ago and I feel much older also .I'm so sorry that you have to go through it all over again. But I'm here and we can do it together along with all the wonderful members of this site. Love surf

Hi sparkle, hi surfermom, yes
Hi sparkle, hi surfermom, yes you can do this again...what choice do you really have? I had breast cancer back in 2010, my right breast, I did the chemo, the lumpectomy, the radiation (which was the worst part I might add) and almost got to 5 years when crap here it was again. I got this crap again in the same breast, only this time around it was IDC, first time it was ILC, what fun right? I went with the DIEP, I now have 2 breasts, they're a lot smaller than my originals but hey I'm still here to talk about it, huh? It is what it is, you face this crap again, you do what you have to do, you don't really have a choice unless of course you don't want to do anything. Stay strong, be brave, you'll get through it again. I have put it all behind me and everyday I move forward.

If you are
going to get it again, I am so glad it is a new
primary. So much better than mets. A new primary can be gone for good, mets ends up being years of treatments, and not good ones t ones for 70-80 % of those of us with mets! Bottom line is it all sucks, so we hope for the best of the lot and some of us are not so lucky!
So glad Surf that is treatable. I keep reading your posts and love how positive you have been.
Keeping you in my thoughts,
Carol

Sparkle, Surfer, Carol,
Sparkle, Surfer, Carol, Ppurdin - you guys are my heroes. You are handling that little nugget of fear buried deep down that I think we all have - the Dreaded Reoccurance. I'm sorry that you're having to deal with it, but I think you are all dealing with it well. Sending you vibes for strength and courage.
