    Can you give more info?

It would be good to have more info regarding your Dad's prostate cancer and his general health.

In the meantime, Xofigo is used to fight castration-resistant metastatic prostate cancer. It targets bone metastases.

Here is a link to some general info on Xofigo:

I personally have no experience with the drug, but others may chime in and provide more information.

I Too Am About to start Xofigo

I have been set to start on May 9th.  I will continue to update.  How has your Dad done with the 1st injection?

I'm trying to get on a clinical trial at the University of Iowa that combines ADT (in my case Lupron & Casodex) with Radium-223 (Xofigo) and if successful, will certainly keep everyone posted as to how it goes. Everything I've read about Xofigo is encouraging but I know that going through the actual treatment cycle; usually one injection every 28 days for a total of 6 injections, can be pretty harsh. I suffer from severe incontinence that resulted from the surgery that removed my prostate and wear Depends undergarments. I'm probably going to have to switch to a catheter & collection bag because the Radium-223 charged urine will really irritate my skin. Some of the other side effects (vomiting, nausea, diarrhea) are similar to other treatments. Best of Luck to you on this.

Best of luck to you as well, GeneRose1.  My 1st injection is tomorrow.  The more I read, the more anxious I become about Xofigo.  I was told that side affects were basically nil, but that is not what patients are reporting on various websites.  I see reports of pain (where there had been none prior to Xofigo), severe weight loss, and skeletal deterioration.  I also see reports of hardly any side affects.  Each of us will respond differently, I guess.  I will keep updating as I proceed through the cycle of 6 injections.
