Questions I should be asking

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

I've been reading a lot of threads and there is so much information and knowledge. Currently NED, diagnosed with adenocarcinoma 111C2. I went for my first oncology appt in March, I did my labs oncologist said everything looked great, well before that I did see my doctor that did the brachytherapy and a few days later I seen my external radiation doctor, he ordered a Ct scan and said everything looked good and then the next day was my oncologist who did the chemo. Sorry this is so long, what questions should I be asking? i know nothing about CA-125 , I have blood drawn before I see her and that's it, she says I'm fine and that's all. I've read my diagnoses but most of you seem so well informed. Yes I use the internet, lol, i just don't feel as informed.

    Hma4, it sounds like you've

    Hma4, it sounds like you've gotten through the hardest parts of treatment and are in the "surveillance" phase now. If that is the case, your questions might center around what symptoms of a recurrence should you be watching for and if there are any diet or life-style changes they could recommend to help reduce your risk of recurrence. If you have a question about whether the CA-125 is a good marker for you then you should certainly ask that too. Good luck to you and may you continue to be NED forever! Kim

    Surveillance

     Thank you ladies- always praying they find a cure! will see my oncologist every 3 mths and my external radiologist every 6 mths- before my x- ternal radiation my radiation doctor said my tumor markers were in the teens- which was where he wanted them to be, is that the CA-125 - praying I never have a recurrence , but my sister was diagnosed with stage1 grade 2 breast cancer Feb of this year- she had a lymphectomy and is now NED and will be on her third round of radiation on Monday 4-24. I guess I will go on that board and see if there are questions she should be asking. we both did the genetic testing and were negative for everything, but we have a crazy history of cancers on my mothers side of the family.

    Kim, I think you hit it on

    Kim, I think you hit it on the head.  It does sound like Hma4 has finished the treatment and is in the scheduled follow ups.  I think "what kind of changes should I be looking for that might signal I have a recurrence?" is a good question.  Also, you are right, the CA125 may not be a good marker (it isn't for me but I eagerly wait for it to be delivered to my mailbox)

    Hma4 I would also ask the gyn onc what type of "signs" you should be looking for.  It really is being aware of your body.  I was told nausuea, diarrhea, constipation, bloating, pain (I keep getting older so the pain is part of that Tongue Out)...so intestinal issues are the systems I have been told to be on the look-out for.
