Last chemo day!!
My husband had his last chemo today!! We were still on the fence this morning And honestly, so was our oncologist but we went with an even lower dosage and fluids eveeyday for two weeks. He rang the bell today and it was more emotional than I thought. He only has 3 treatments left. we are so ready to be done!

Yay! I thought of ya'll
Yay! I thought of ya'll several times today wondering how it was going. I know exactly what you mean about getting emotional when he rang the bell. Our chemo office doesn't have a bell but he rang the one st the rads office on his last day of treatment there and then we hugged and cried.

Thank you! There was such a feeling of relief and my body relaxed so much. I could see it in him as well. Now just 3 more treatments and we are done. Just gotta get through this week then the healing begins. How's your hubby doing? Feeling better physically and emotionally?

Mmdowns, it's been a good
Mmdowns, it's been a good day for mine. No iv fluids for the first time in 2 weeks. Creatinine was down to 0.9. But, the best news is he has eaten really well today. Scrambled eggs, grits, a peanut butter sandwich and some ice cream. Also, drinking lots of water today. We are hoping he is turning the corner in a positive direction.

Hooray!
I'm so glad you are almost at the finish line! It must be such a good feeling. I hope your husband feels a little better every day. We are sitting the hospital now waiting for our chemo teach class, then after that is the mask fitting and CT Mapping. We should get a schedule today, too. It's so scary so it's good to see other at theother end of treatment. Let us know when he rings that radiation bell!

It gets better. The setbacks
It gets better. The setbacks still happen, but they are smaller, and shorter. For him eating what you describe, he is in pretty good shape for a good recovery.

Thank you, thank you! It is a wonderful feeling of relief. I know you're scared. I wish I could tell you that feeling goes away but what I can tell you is that it ebbs and flows. Each day brings a possibility of a new side effect but it also teaches you so much about you and your husband and the relationship you have together. There were a lot of good days that we had and they definitely outweighed the bad ones. But we also tried really hard (sometimes it worked) to try and find ONE good thing about the day. Other times we allowed ourselves to wallow and then moved on. I still worry about getting through this week. Chemo week makes me on edge all week. I won't really relax until Monday. And of course there will always be the fear that this cancer is forever a part of our lives. But, I will focus on the today and the good it brings. Take deep breaths and cry when you need to and then move on. You're doing this! We are here for you!

He does seem to be in fairly good shape. The mucous is overwhelming but he just gets it out and that's all we can do. Two more days!!

I am excited for you
I was recently diagnosed with unknown primary. I start 35 rads and 7 chemo on May 1st. I had my mask made last Thursday and now it's game on! I appreciate your candor in these posts. It helps me to know that I will get through this, and even when it gets hard it will end.

You WILL get through it! It's a tough road but you can do it. You already are doing it. The end will get closer and closer and then you're done! Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way. You got this!

Thank you for sharing your experiences
I want to thank all of you for sharing during your H&N cancer treatments. My husband began Chemo and Radiation for NPC this past Monday. I already have learned so much from this group. I know the insights you have shared will help both of us during this battle. I am inspired by the encouragement. I find hope in hearing the success stories.
I am so happy to hear about those who have completed treatment. I love to read about NEDs.
I am very thankful to all of you and this forum.
