    Phyllodes tumor

    Over the last 3 months, I've seen a tangerine size growth explode to a huge Phyllodes tumor on my left breast. I'm 46. I have no other symptoms besides this growth. I have insurance in Louisiana. From what I've been reading, with a breast this deformed + lumpy, a doctor may only need to do a physical assessment and then, excisional biopsy. My tumor looks to 44 cm, misshapen and it started to put pressure on my lungs. Please humor me as this is my first time+ I don't know much

     Would you guys recommend me going right to LSU Medical Center and going to emergency or setting up an appt. I believe time is of the essence. I'm brand new here, so I don't have a primary care doctor.

    just a suggestion

    I think time is of the essence to get the ball rolling.  go to LSU or call first to see how soon you can get in to see specialist.  if it seems too long for you, go ER.

    Is your phyllodes tumor cancerous or non-cancerous?

    I would try to get into a breast oncologist, if not

    Possible to get in right away, if not, usually the ER doctors, especially in the larger facilities have connections with onco's and can get you to one who specializes in bc faster than the appointment schedulers.  I did learn thru al of these years that especially with rare tumors, or aggressive breast cancer, one who specializes is usually better informed than a general oncologist!

    I would get to someone as soon as you can get in.

    I just had a phyllodes tumour

    I just had a phyllodes tumour removed. About 22 days post op. My surgeon said that it waa benign but wasn't 100% sure because it was so big and they could only get a 1mm margin?  So confused. I see people writing about how fast these things can return and it seems so crazy. People having them removed 3 or 4 times. I may be paranoid, but I already feel some hardness growing back. Is that even possible this soon. Looking for advice.

    Did they send it off?

    All growths no matter how big or small should be sent off for testing.  What did that testing show?

    Don't go to the ER. There's

    Don't go to the ER. There's nothing they can do for you.  Call the breast center & make an appointment. You were diagnosed at a different Dr but now you moved away? Is that what's going on? If the hospital doesn't have a breast center go to a gynecologist or primary care Dr. They can order the  mammograms, ultrasound, or whatever tests to get the ball rolling right away then you'll go to a breast or general surgeon. You can usually get in sooner when you're referred by a Dr.

    The test showed that it is borderline with high stromal overgrowth. I am working with a radiologist now, but they can't seem to decide on whether I should have radiation or a mastectomy. They could NOT get it all, so in my mind, it isn't a matter of if it will grow back, but how long it will take to compleyely grow back....because It's still there. Sooo frustrated.
