Wow! Sounds like mine may be a baseball sized one too! Did you experience pain prior to removal of it? I am comforted in knowing that you are doing well since your treatment.  That is awesome! 

I strongly believe that every situation or curve ball we are dealt with is an opportunity to learn and grow from.  I can assure you that I can hear every bird chirp around me and I can smell every dog gone flower around me.....suddenly the little things seem to be more relevant now.  Im grateful for the people here and their openess and honesty about their struggle and process!

In my case I had gross hematuria (blood in the urine).  If I hadnt been using the restroom inside and looking at the result I would have never known as I felt nothing out of the normal.   I had been loosing some weight leading up to it, but no pain that warned me.  I definately agree with the stopping to smell the roses and living and loving more deeply.

I went to the ER on 3/24 thinking that I had appendicitis. Wrong! 7 cm mass in the LEFT kidney that it invading the renal vein. Blood work good. Urinalysis good. Chest CT good. It must have been the man upstairs that sent me to the ER.

I am scheduled for surgery  (laproscopically) on the 18th.. next Tuesday. Removing the whole kidney.. I am not versed on all of the official words yet.  I have two children (almost 17 and almost 13) and a husband who is pretty much in denial.. like they are going in to pop a pimple. I have cried buckets of tears.. how I have not dehydrated is beyond me. 

I am trying to freezer cook and make things as simple as possible for post surgery.. but yet make things normal for the kids.

My oncologist says no treatment afterward. What else can I expect?

I know exactly what you are going through and how you're feeling.  They found my tumor the end of July and a month later I was on the table.  When I found out about the cancer all I could think about was my wife of over 20 years and my children (ages 19, 17 and 10 at diagnosis).  I was really worried about telling them about the mass and surgery.  They handled it much better than I ever expected.  I'm glad you found us.  We'll be able to help as much as you want us to.  I do suggest starting a new thread.  You'll get more responses by doing that.

I had a 10 tomur 2.5 years ago and the only treatment I've had so far is radical nephrectomy. Stage one kidneys Cancer's survival rate is very promising with more than 90% rate, although stage two ( larger than 7 cm) is not as promising as stage one, it is still very good with almost 75% and I personally know many stage two patients who are living their normal lives years after their nephrectomy.

I know what you're thinking and how you're feeling since it took me more than a year to come back to almost normal me, some therapy sessions that I had , had to have been the main couse, reaching out to other people with same experience on this board and sharing my emotions with my hubby are two effective and helpful decisions that i've made. I've seen many member who have been very terrified once they were told about their cancer but it took much shorter time for them to overcome their fears and come back to normal life.
