My Turn

Well Tuesday is my turn.  I am having a Robotic partial right side.  I want to thank all of you who have shared your journey with us.  They have helped answer lots of questions and  taken a little of the fear "of the unknown" away.  I think I know a little better what to expect.  Still having lots of emotions but I will get thru this thing with God's help.

    You will do great

I will be two weeks post surgery tomrrow and I am doing pretty darn good at this stage in my recovery. My first week was a little rough, but not to bad. I wish you well and keep the faith, it will all workout just fine.

I had the exact same surgery

I had the exact same surgery in the exact same spot.  You'll do great!  Just remember to walk when they say walk.

    Best wishes.

Same surgery as I had too. Not as bad as I thought.  Just keep walking like Guy said. Makes a huge difference in how you feel.

    Best wishes ,

    Kim

    I know a guy

I know a guy that had a radical six years before mine, I looked to him for advice. He described it best when he said "It's bad, but it isn't horrible". He was right.

All the best to you tomorrow.

All the best to you tomorrow. Mine was open partial and still wasn't nearly as bad as I had feared. As said, walk as much as possible, as soon as possible. And do use the breathing apparatus. Take a small pillow with you to hold against your incision if you need to cough, sneeze, or laugh. It also comes in hand for the ride home to put under the seat belt so it doesn't rub.

    All the best

My fear was 100x worse than my open surgery. With all the recent successful stories, I hope they give you the confident. I would suggest that you should plan ahead on what to do after the surgery now and recovery! Again, you will be fine :)

    Our fears

are typically WAY worse than actual event.  That's the good news.  You can expect to be moving at a slower pace but fear not, given a few weeks you'll look back on it like a bad dream.  It'll be part of your past and you'll have a new sense of priorities.

    God bless & best wishes,

    Donna~

    Plan Ahead

Already have my 6month celebration plans.  Already booked a cruise.  Now just have to recover so I can enjoy it.

    hopefully a

once in a lifetime experience. Sit back, do what you are told and expected to be able to do. Keep your eyes open and let the pros lead the way. I think it is funny when patients act like no one is paying attention to them. Often the reality is that it takes time to recover. Patients are being carefully monitored and all do fine. As long as there is no distress, pace yourself, walk often and stay hydrated. It's going to be a marvelous summer.
