Hi Bill, I am glad if I was

Hi Bill, I am glad if I was able to help you.  I believe helping each other is the most important purpose of this forum.

I wanted to let everyone know I'm scheduled for the radioactive bead therapy April 27th.  My doctor says he will address the lung tumor after he done working on my liver, that he expected to be dealing with the liver from 3-6 months.  I will let you know how the procedure goes.

I'm  still taking xeloda and get avastin infusions every 3 weeks.

I've been feeling really good the last few weeks!  I am not at a point of being declared NED, but hopefully will make it there one day soon!

Praying for healing and continued health for all on the forum.

    Joan

    Thoughts With You Joan

Really good news on scheduling the beads.  Sounds like the treatments are lining up well for you with good results.  Just to let you know, I am  Stage IV B.  Had a met to the lung popped out in September and doing well.  Was not that bad at all.

    Thank you!  What procedure

Thank you!  What procedure did they use on the lung tumor?

I have heard of many different types, and not sure which ones work the best. My doctor is considering the ablation on my lungs.

    I Had A Wedge Resection

Took out a piece of the lung.  Was in and out of the hospital in about 36 hours.   I made sure to wal/run and exercise for a month or so before surgery.  They said it would help with recovery to get as much "lung workout."  It really was not too bad at all.  I was walking around about 6 hours after surgery.  I knew the quicker I showed them I was up and about, the quicker I would get out :)

It's great that you did so

It's great that you did so well after the surgery!  My doctor wants to focus on the tumors in my liver before he decides the best option for the lungs.  I am glad to hear your surgery wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be....  that really helps me prepare mentally for what's ahead of me.

    Radioactive bead therapy

Hi Joan - Wanted to wish you well with your radioactive bead therapy that you posted you were having today.  Please let us know how you are doing.  Have you taken the xeloda and avastin up until now, and not had to stop any treatment to have this done.  Would you explain a little about what was done?  Thanks and speedy recovery.  All the best.

Thank you for the good wishes!

The procedure went well and according to the doctor this should kill off the tumors in the right lobe  of my liver.  Yes I have been on Avastin and Xeloda since  July 2016.  I only had to wait one week after last administration of Avastin, and luckily the procedure was on my 14th day of Xeloda.  I actually skipped the 14th day because you have to take it with food and I couldn't eat prior to the surgery.  I threw up after eating so it wouldnt have benefited me much.  I figured 13 days on this cycle was enough.  I have to take a 5 day pack of steroids for inflamation, a prescription  antacid to avoid ulcers from the procedure, and also zofran for nausea. Hopefully I will not need them when its time to start the xeloda again.  I get Avastin again this Friday.

Dr. Coursey is doing a CT scan in a couple of months to check on the results and what else, besides chemo will be done for the remaining tumors.  The original tumor in my colon disappeared, and I asked if that area should be removed surgically.  My oncologist still doesn't want me to have the surgery to remove that area where the tumor was; he feels it would be really hard on me and doesn't think surgery will benefit me because how it metastasized.  It would be great to have all this behind me one day and be NED like so many on this site!

I am praying for good results and that I dont have to repeat this procedure. They can repeat it to kill off all tumors if they dont all die with the first injection.  It went pretty easy, its just hard dealing with the nausea and tiredness again.
