High Proliferation rate and NHL

in Lymphoma (Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin) #1

i would like to hear from anyone whose lab slide biopsy shows a high proliferation rate.

My node excision biopsy showed a proliferation rate of 70-80%.

I am particularly interested about your oncologists' feedback about your proliferation rate and also how you have done in treatment. Does your proliferation rate affect your prognosis in any way?

    Are we speaking of the Ki67 rate? If so, it almost sounds as if the follicular may be transforming to Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma(?) I hope that is not the case, but such a proliferation rate does not seem consistent with follicular lymphoma.

    Hi po18guy, Biopsies have confirmed follicular - follicular usually has a lower proliferation rate. Paradoxically, I have seen research that follicular with high proliferation rates tend to convert less than those with lower rates. Gratefully, I am NED.

    Follicular is not my forté. Still, such a high rate is odd - but very good in your case. Oftentimes the more aggressive a lymphoma is, the easier it is to stop. At least in B-Cell cases.

    All B-Cell Lymphomas are pretty well known

    Therefore, treatment is well established and outcomes are steadily improving. You have probably been told, but follicular is considered to be a chronic, manageable disease. Many times, active surveillance (watch & wait) is recommended, as early treatment may not be the best course to take, as odd as that may sound.
