I think I am going to use your father-in-laws words as inspiration to get through the next 8 radiation sessions. I absolutely HAVE TO push through and get to the end, just like the rest of the people here. You are all an inspiration really. I should also be more grateful that the chemo hasn't caused any/many side effects (at least, not yet). Someone else at my radiation oncology center got to ring the bell this morning. Her husband taped it and it was cute. I will be doing that on Thursday, March 2nd, but like I had previously said...no recording it. I noticed Lorikat had forgotten about the screaming in the toilet part of her journey until rlr000dc mentioned it as part of their journey. I hope I can forget a lot of this some day soon.
I can't say it enough...this discussion board has been a Godsend to me. I don't remember how I even found it, but so glad I did. Thank you to everyone who has been so kind and supportive, and understanding!
One thing that got me through was watching music videos. Hopeing you can find some kind of mindset as well to get you "out of the moment"

Find the best doctor
If your treatment is only radiation, that means the doctor is not treat the cause of your disease. You need a doctor can give you medicine to make your body go back to balance, stop the tumor growth, instead of only kill the tumors and also killing you. Did you have your hormon and metabolism tested? It's pretty tricky to deal with doctors, if they're hasitate to give you treatment, just don't push him to do anything, or it can screwup. I think you just didn't find a doctor knows what happening to you.
Any life style change, any bad habit, like sitting too long. Live your life as normal as possible, hopefully your body can go back to balance. The disease is caused by your daily life, plus all the medications your're taking, you need to communicate this with doctors. The bad part of privacy law is doctor don't ask anything about your past, lab data is the only thing they see. Good luck to you.

Did you or do you have anal cancer? I am asking out of curiosity, as you mention disease is caused by one's daily life. 95% of anal cancer cases are caused by HPV, according to the National Cancer Institute. My cancer was NOT caused by any medications I was taking, as I was on none at the time of my diagnosis or prior to diagnosis. I respectfully suggest you check your facts.

Hi there Martha,
I just wanted to let you know that whomever Sherry is, I've reported several of her posts. She has posted the same thing on several different forums. I found these posts to be very offensive and quite off-topic. Being diagnosed with anal cancer has nothing to do with sitting too much or taking certain medications. She also doesn't seem to have a grip on the protocol for treating anal cancer and apparently she has no respect for the doctors who do treat this disease. She needs to go somewhere else with her misinformation and disrespect.
Hope you are well,
Amy
I couldn't agree with you more and I thank you for reporting those posts. I sometimes think when I see such posts that some people just don't have enough to do. It is unfortunate that we have such things happen.
I am doing just fine, thank you for asking. How are you? I hope all is going well. You have added so much to this support site. Have a great week ahead!

Work :-)
I am doing well these days. I go back to work tomorrow and I look forward to that as I enjoy my job (teacher working with children with visual impairments and special needs) and it will add some normalcy back into my days. I have a check-up on Tuesday with my radiologist and one with my colorectal surgeon in April. I'm nervous about what the future holds right now as there is no guarantee the cancer is completely gone, but I'm choosing positivity and love. I hope you have a fantastic week ahead! (Where we are, the weather people are expecting a Noreaster! 10-18 inches of snow!)

I wish you the best tomorrow as you return to work. What a rewarding job you have! I hope your appointment on Tuesday with the rad onc goes well. Just keep in mind that your body still needs time to heal, but hold on to positive thoughts that your treatment was successful and NO MORE CANCER! Enjoy your students tomorrow--I know they'll be happy to have you back!
