Pancreatic Cancer

I was given 1 years to live in September 2016. Pancreatic mass was 2/3 of the pancreas. I have been doing chemo and was told yesterday that the mass is gone. I want to share this to give others hope. I am still on chemo. I still have some inflamation in and around the main blood vessel. I am so happy! My doctor said we now dont have an experation date. She even looked surprised. All I read on the internet was so terrible. Seems everyone with Pancreatic cancer dies within 1 year and even the lucky ones no more than 5. I was diagnosed in April 2016. I feel great! I was very sick in the begining. I went jaundis(doubt I spelled that correctly) and was in the hospital for 5 days. Got a stent in the duct. Been through radiation and on my 3rd chemo regiment, but this one is working and not just for me. Dr said she had 3 pancreatic cancer patients and all are doing well with this treatment. VCI  Virginia Cancer Instatute. Dont give up!!!

                           I can relate to how happy you are when you got the news about the mass being gone.   And you are so right about all the attitude of "Don't Give Up "

    Can you tell me what your treatment plan has been so far, what chemo did you have as 1, 2 and 3.  Did you have radiation with Xeloda?

     Glad you are doing well, i had my whipple done in 2009 then mild chemo and radiation and now after 7 years i'm still doing good, they have me on creon which i have to take the rest of my life and i thank god every day, so to all that has pancrese cancer just never give up.. look to god and keep fighting..

    Stage 4 pancreatic cancer

    Positive vibes, like those in this discussion, are the best ancillary care you can give yourself as a cancer patient. Look at the bright side every minute/every day. I have discovered that there are just not that many ways medically to treat my cancer. Two treatment regimens top the list. The gemzar/abraxane combo seems to be attacking the tumors, but, jeez, the side effects to my blood have lowered my counts dangerously after second to last dose. I lowered dosing and schedule Monday and see how that works. Fatigue, SOB and other symptoms are constant, but I find a get up and go walk injects a skip in my step.

        Good luck to all people who have this vicious, wicked, hard-to-treat illness, and to all who are sick for any reason.  Think hope. Think positive.

    Desperate for real information.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and am so very thankful for the love & support I received on this Discussion Board.  My brother has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Stint inserted to relieve bile duct and jaundice and itcing are releved.  Fear is the overriding emotion now.  Believe he will be a candidate for Whipple procedure.  Plan to go to Shands to meet with surgeon.  Anyone ... PLEASE ... share your story.  Good ... bad ... honest.  Real ;ife can create the optimism and knowledge to move forward.  Thank you!!!
