So sorry this awful thing came back. Thanks for the advice about proton therapy.
I pray for strength and health for you as well.
Thank you for your prayers and I will also keep you and your son in mine. Keep your faith in God and have as many people as you can pray for your Son & you while going through treatment. I know that everyone here on CSN will also be praying, we are a family here and you are now a part of that family. So don’t be afraid to ask questions we will do the best we can to give you an answer.
There is also some herbal stuff you can do when his treatment is over that will help the body in healing.
God Bless

Sorry to hear about your son.
Sorry to hear about your son. I was diagnosed in early January of this year. The first round of chemo is finished and I'm not doing 6 weeks of radiation/chemo. Chemo each week and 32 treatments of TrueBeam1. I'm 3 weeks in and don't have little pain when swallowing but my taste buds are almost gone. I have lots of dryness in my mouth and throat and have that thick mucous. I have 18 more treatments of radiation. I had a feeding tube put in and it took over 2.5 weeks for my body to heal from that surgery. I do have 24/7 ringing in my ears but a hearing test by the ENT said that my hearing is fine. I hope the ringing isn't permanent. I couldn't handle cisplatin and the 5FU. That was brutal on my mouth from the mouth sores. I'm now on carbo. Your son is young and strong so he has that on his side. Hope things go well for him and everyone fighting this terrible disease!

Proton TherapyHondo said:Hi Jester
Do the Proton treatment; it is by far better than the old style radiation treatment. My friend just finished doing Proton treatment and he just about walked away with hardly any side effects.
My NPC came back on me and I don’t want anyone to have to live through the night mare I have been through with radaition side effects, go with the Proton
I wish you both well
God Bless

Do you think proton therapy is effective in your case? Im researchin for my sister who is 36 & was diagnosed with stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer. She did 6 rounds of chemo & stop because it wasn't effective. The cancer spread to her liver & pelvic. She is currently doing immunotherapy. So far there's little progress but the cancer is contained. I did some research & found proton therapy as it seems very effective with less side effects. My sister lives in san Diego & luckily there's a center there that offers that treatment. Hopefully we can get her in.

I certainly would ask about Proton Therapy....also ask about SBRT radiation....I'm assuming she did not have radiation the first go round??
