Has anyone had a local reoccurrence?  If so, when was your initial treatment?  When was your reoccurrence?  What were your symptoms?  How was reoccurrence treated?  Thanks ... fearing a local reoccurrence 6 years after treatment and follow up.

    Thanks Martha ...

    Constipation, straining, now itching burning and stinging (no bleeding) that is hanging around.  A bit frightening ... CT scan a year ago and flex sig last june "normal".  But I worry about early changes at the cellular level ... "No Gross" issues is great, but what is the current thinking related to those of us where the tumor was positive for oncogenic strains of HPV like 16 or 31 or others (There are many).  Does radiation kill HPV?  What does Dr. Eng think about ongoing risk due to HPV ... do you know or has she addressed this in any lectures you are aware of?   This is why I ask about High Resolution Anoscopy and Anal PAP as a follow up tool and if there is a move toward this for early ID of reoccurrence. 

     If my c scope and close exam of the anal canal is normal, I'm going to schedule and appointment with Joel Palefsky st UCSF for an opinion on this issue and long term impact ... thoughts?   Many thanks !!
