This Can't Be Happening Again!
Hello All,
It has been some time since I posted. You all are never far from my thoughts.
I am asking for your prayers, good vibes, and positive thoughts for my son, Robert. As some of you "oldies"(but goodies, might I add) may remember, I lost my husband, Ron to H&N and Lung Cancer back in May 2013 and just one year after that I buried my daughter, Johnnybegood, who was a long time member of this group. My son has developed rectal bleeding and severe pain in is left hip over the last few weeks. With his family history, he was able to get an appointment with a gastro doctor for this Thursday morning.
I know this could be a million other things, but when Cancer resides in your home as long as it did in mine, it is naturally the first thing you think of. I also remember that "It's not cancer till they say it's cancer."
Holidays are still tough for me. In fact, every day is still tough for me as I try to move forward. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I will not survive another loss.

Oh, for goodness sakes!
I pray for your Robert and for you that this is not Cancer.
You yourself have seen too much sorrow, and you son does not need to suffer as his loved ones have.
I am so glad that he was able to get an appointment quickly, and hopefully will find out what is the cause of his problems.
Thinking of you!

I have everything crossed for it not to be cancer. I was the cancer sibling in our family , my brother has survived over 40 years of ulcerative colitis and Barret's oesophagitis. He has had over 40 colonoscopies and endoscopies. He turned 72 this year. May your sons problem be benign, best wishes Ron.

Are you freaking kidding me?
Are you freaking kidding me? The good thing is pain in the hip or anywhere else is rarely a sign. I hope it's an easy, fixable thing like something broken. It's sad when we're wishing for fractures or broken body parts but it's the safer wish. Please let us all know as soon as you find out. You are a rockstar in my world and always will be. You kept a lot of us going. Your daughter was so lucky to have you by her side. I know she appreciated it.

first aid
What a horror, I am so sorry you may be in this again.
Personally, I do think that we can improve the odds and results by "first aid" and initial response in these first days and weeks by extra blood tests, immune building actions and mild off label drugs.

Just seeing this now.
Hoping the colonoscopy went well and that you have already received word that all is clear. I know the paths take time and that cancer isn't always immediately recognizable to the doc like mine was, but I'm praying he told you he found hemorhoids, or something to that effect.
Big hugs,
Krista

Nothing Yet
Thanks you guys, for asking. Nothing to report yet. The colonoscopy prep contained Aspertame, which Robert is allergic to. The first round of it made him very ill with a migraine and bluured vision. They are going to have to come up with an alternative and then reschedule. I took him to the ER today as the hip pain had become so severe that he was almost in tears. They did a CT, but could find no explanation. He declined pain meds as they make him sick and he can't take anti-inflammatory meds because of the bleeding. He was able to get a few days off work so he wouldn't be standing for 10 hours a day which exacerbates the bleeding and hip pain. Something is very wrong and no one knows what it is. Doctors and medicine remain high on my hate list.

What prep did they want to use?
I looked up two listed as approved by FDA and neither reported aspertame as an ingredient:
Prepopik
Moviprep
Of course they may only have listed the "active" ingredients and I expect the aspertame was a flavoring.
Under the circumstances can't they admit him to hospital and do fluids only and enemas in order to get the test done?
Prayers for resolution soonest.
Hugs,
