Window Sticker for my Car Ideas
It used to bug me when people drove around with cancer stickers on their vehicle. Like the ribbons, there was a lot of that. I felt like they were wallowing in it when they should just move on if they'd survived. I know, what a horrible thing to think. I thought you had it and then you either survived or you didn't and if you did survive, that was it, you didn't worry about it anymore. I thought it was very negative to keep focusing on something that's so horrible.
Now I know better and feel very differently. While I'm still not a fan of the ribbons, the majority of which are the pink ones, like there is no other cancer or they are all secondary to breast cancer, I find that I want to have something that is representative of my thoughts on it.
I have a small pitbull sticker- we have one and she's the best dog around- and I'm a huge pitbull advocate and want people to see someone who is pro pitbull driving around and looking normal, not like some neanderthal dog fighter.
My other issue is cancer. I'm so angry that it exists and that we can't seem to get a hold of what can make it easier to live with or to eradicate it entirely. And I want people to see that you can live with the diagnosis and not be a victim. The ribbons make me think they have a victim mentality. I'm not trying to offend anyone who may have one, that's just what it brings to my mind. I feel like the ribbon represents someone who is feeling sorry for themselves and wants sympathy. I do not want that to represent me. I want to look like a warrier who will go down kicking and fighting this disease. And I want people to ask me about it. I want to engage in conversations so I can encourage people to get those colonoscopies done and not let it get to the point where it's life threatening.
I drive a pretty cool car, I have a bright red Camaro, and I feel like it represents life and fun. So, after droning on about my reasoning my question is- what would make you feel strong if you read it on someone's car, not feel sorry for them. I've mentioned before how our local cancer centre has a tree painted on a wall and we're supposed to put encoyraging quotes on a leaf and stick it to the tree. Every time I walked past it I wanted to write 'f--k cancer'. I even stopped one time and almost did it. But they want the rainbows and butterflies and would probably just take it down. So that's one of the things I've considered putting on my car in the back window. F**k Cancer. With the asterisks instead of the actual letters so it's not totally offensive. The other thing I've seen is Calvin from the Calvin and Hobbes cartoon peeing on the word cancer. Cute but it doesn't quite convey my boiling rage at cancer. On the other hand, I am not looking for sympathy and do not want to start that conversation.
I had a friend who told everyone she met that she'd had cancer as soon as she met them. It was embarassing and awkward seeing people do the 'oh, you're so strong, good for you!' thing. She defined herself by it and I hated it when she did that. She also used it to try to get freebies or extras in different situations. Ugh. I only tell people now if there's a reason I need them to know because I'm not able to do certain things or to empathize with someone who is dealing with it as well.
I guess I've brought up a whole other conversation here, haven't I? So, if anybody has any ideas for a sticker or has seen a good one, I'd love some ideas.

What amazes me is since I've
What amazes me is since I've had cancer people want to give me hats, scarves, pj bottoms, etc that have the cancer support symbols on them...I already have all the scars to remind me that I had cancer and wear them with pride, but I don't need the clothes and ribbons too. That's just me! I'm not trying to offend anyone who wants to wear the clothes, etc.... We all show our strengths in different ways!!! Just my two cents worth!!!

Really? Nobody has done that to me. Thank goodness. It would be like living through being shot and people giving you things with pictures of guns on them. To me, anyway. I Googled cancer stickers and there are lots about breast cancer. It annoys me. Definitely breast cancer is horrid, too, and I would never downplay it, but enough focus on it already! There are plenty of other cancers!
One stickers says something about 'my boobs tried to kill me' or something like that. Let's see, how could we reword that to pertain to our cancer... Oh, I know! Yup, can't use that.

Funny thing is that
Funny thing is that everything that has been given to me is in support of breast cancer! I know their hearts are in the right place!!! I did almost buy a shirt about my rectal cancer...but decided against it because it wasn't nice for kids to see and my 3 year old already corrects me for bad language!! Lol

Already Seen That
And it was great. Big sticker across rear windshield if I recall correctly. I loved it. Trying to remember if I took a photo, I remember thnking I should but may have not gotten it when we were moving. My wife was driving and I thought about grabbing phone late and maybe missing it. Let me look for it.

I am trying to see
I almost want to say I was coming back from getting hooked up to chemo. I am thinking it was during the chemo period and going through it. And I could swear I told my wife probably just as passing the truck, where she said she would reverse. But it was a truck or serious jeep in black like don't mess with me type thing with a big F**K cancer. Or maybe it was like small print and I was just noticing, well because.
Kidding aside, I know I saw this big a** sticker saying F**k Cancer on a bad A** vehicle (no mini-cooper and expected to see a rifle rack) and I wanted to go back and drop a note and say thanks. But it is somewhat a blur, so I think it was a chemo day or coming down. I am not going to try to explain that, because you know that feeling

Yeah, I know. After having no speeding tickets for years I got theree during the drives home from chemo. There's one intersection on the way out of town with a stupid camera on the post so it gets everybody. The first one they let me off because I sent them a sob story letter but not the next one. I knew the thing was there but I'd be too upset and unthinking to slow down.
So you think it would be okay to put that on my car? I don't want to be offensive but I also don't like the sad side of cancer. I don't want to be the oh, poor me victim and I want others to be stregthened by my sign. Not feel sad.

I should add that one of the things I did on the way to chemo or radiation was play AC/DC loudly to give myself some encouragement on the way there. To get me into a fighting mendset. Then on the way home I'd feel all sad and broken.
