New to the Site
Hi everyone. My name is Scott and I am not new to cancer but am new to this site. I wanted to introduce myself and say hello to everyone who this disease has touched and wish you all well. I have had RCC for 2 1/2 years now and am stage IV after having my kidney removed and in a second surgery having 17 surrounding lymph nodes removed. I have another affected lymph node on my right bronchial tube and also some indicator spots on my lungs. I am on Votrient medication now which is working well for me. I have the usual side affects but am doing well. I am still working but planning on stopping work and applying for SSD at the end of the year. I'm not sure how well I will handle being retired but am looking forward to this next step. My main concerns now include how this step will affect my wife and my body. If anyone has any good exercise suggestions I would like to hear what others have tried are able to handle and find success with. Thanks for reading this. Live well, Scott

I don't have any advice as
I don't have any advice as I'm one of the fortunate stage 1 people but did want to say "welcome" and to tell you that you've come to the right place. It's filled with caring, compassionate people who are all so generous with their time and advice and sharing of their stories. Wishing you all the very best whether you continue to work or retire.

Starting Votrient after unsuccessful immunotherapy attempts
After trying Interleuken 2 and Opdivo, I am now starting Votrient. I am taking the shot for the bone metastases too. Looks like side effects can be managed very well. Someone suggested iron supplement for their diarrhea. Besides that, I am a healthy 44-year-old male with no known health issues besides renal cell cancer stage four. Just checking to see what is working for others out there right now or any suggestions. I eat a plant-based diet, super foods, super herbs, super water, everything else you can imagine stay healthy.

Votrient's been working for me for almost three years now. I also received Xgeva shots for a bone met. My wife ensures I eat good meals (mostly) and that I take my vitamins and suppliments. I have to take high-blood pressure meds to counteract the Votient blood pressure side effects.

Great news...
do you take the prescribed 800 .. 4x pills at night , 2 hours after dinner? Or do you have a different schedule? Should I go slow the first week and take 1 the first day , 2 the second day, three the third day and four the fourth day? Thanks for the support!

Votrient Schedule
I take 600mg in the morning, before breakfast. If you click on my profile, you can track my progress with various dosages which started at 800mg.
During the first year we tried AM and PM routines and found AM worked best for me. I don't recall exactly why now, but one side effect or another was bothering my sleep or my work, so we adjusted the schedule for that. Others on this forum have PM routines, which I think is the most popular.
I don't have any relevant insight on the "go slow" approach. I started at 800mg on the first day and waited for the side effects to kick in over the upcoming weeks.
I hope all goes well for you.

Welcome, Scott
Welcome to the site, Scott. I have to ask--is that a small mouth in your profile picture? I wanted to inquire about your question--"If anyone has any good exercise suggestions I would like to hear what others have tried are able to handle and find success with." What level of fitness are you? What current exercises do you do and how does that work for you? This could help our members provide some insite. I'm a pretty active person and finally started running and lifting weights again after my surgery in late August.
