Re: Meeting with Oncologist on Tuesday, December 27th
Hi Ladies:
I wanted to update all of you ladies on the Tamoxifen. I stopped taking Tamoxifen on Sunday, December 11th as I was on this medicine for 8 days. It caused BURNING pain in my eyes and pains in my head so I stopped taking it. I immediately called my oncologist on Monday morning, December 12th and mentioned this to his office. I met with my oncologist last Wed., the 14th and he wanted me to see my eye doctor for an exam so I went yesterday and everything was fine with my eyes so that was a big relief since I was only on the medicine for 8 days.
I am meeting with my oncologist this coming Tuesday, December 27th to discuss starting chemo since the Tamoxifen did not work. His office has to set up the chemo treatments - I assume the chemo will start sometime in January which I will discuss with my oncologist. His office has to set up all the chemo treatments for me and also a place in the chemo center. So I should be starting these chemo treatments in January. My oncologist did mention to me before that he will put me on carboplatin, taxol and doxil. He also did mention to me I might only need 6 treatments. My cancer was caught pretty early as it came out very small in late October so it has been a little over 2 months. He did tell me the cancer is slow moving. I had a blood test done yesterday for my CA 125 to see what number that is now. In Sept. it was at 134 so I assume in 3 months it would not be too high since then.
In the meantime, I want to wish all of you ladies a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
My goal for 2017 is to go through chemo treatments and beat this beast down and to go into remission and to again have No Evidence of Disease. I might only need 6 treatments from what my oncologist mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago, which I am hoping that is all I will need, the first treatment will be 6 hours then all the other treatments will be 2 hours this will go on every week for 3 weeks then have a week off.
Anyway, once I start chemo, I will be in touch sometime in January and will write a post on the board.
Cheerful
a/k/a Jane

Jane, Thanks for the update.
Jane, Thanks for the update. Glad you stopped the Tamoxifen since it was so hurtful to your body. I'm sending positive energy your way that you do indeed dance with Mr. Ned again in 2017. I hope your treatments are tolerable and the time goes by quickly for you. I agree with Kim, use this time to enjoy your Christmas and get yourself as strong as possible to beat this beast next year.
Merry Christmas Dear Jane....
Love and Hugs,
Cindi
