Another brother dx'd.
One of my brothers moved back here a little over a month ago
and was not feeling well so he went to new doctor, did blood work sent him to the Cancer Center. He was dx'd w/ stage iv non-hodgekins lymphoma. Another brother has CLL and non hodgekins Lymphoma but a different sub-type. The bro just dx'd has one of the rare subtypes. My sister was dx'd with bc a year ago, and another brother with Lung. He is now following thru because his lungs are bleeding. That is 4 terminal (if the one with the lungs follows thru and gets a complete report), and then a sister who is cancer free at this time. My brother here is getting his gene tested to see which cell is regressive? Dr figues with half of us stage 4, (one brother died of bladder cancer at 53, my mom had malenoma, but passed from head and neck cancer, there must be a recessed gene that is weakening our immune systems. My insurance denied the tests. It will not help my brother here, but if they find it, it could help 5 remaining siblings as well as nieces, nephews grand babies etc. It is in the same family as my sons ET!
Does it ever stop!

This is too much
So incredible! So you and your family are also born with the skills to handle this too? Is that small advantage in the genes too? If only some docs would see this as a great source for investigation.
I also have an extended family history. As a teen, our generation would joke, you will either start the battle in your 40's, die before 60, or if you make it past 60 you are in the clear and will get to 75-85-100. If only we had all gotten my grandpa's genes where he and all 4 sisters lived to over 100 and vital the whole way.
Seeing your post, I realized that spending so much time with my parents in every hospital in the city since I was 17 may have given me an advantage too.
All good stuff for you and yours Ninja

So sorry for all your heartache and worries...
I too am from a "cancer family" is what the docs called it. It's hard, it is stressful and it is depressing. My heart breaks for you. I know how this feels all to well. I remain fighting and will continue to do all I can. Prayers for peace, understanding and the genitic mutations to stop. Praying for you and all families who go through this. Hugs.

Another?I
This is happening wayyyyyy too often. Please tell me someone somewhere is paying attention to all the families like this. I do not have the numerous cancers showing up in my family. There is just me.......and a grandson with an extremely rare bone cancer ( we were told he's the 13th to be diagnosed with it....ever....worldwide). No one else in the family.....so far. Your family is another one to be follwed by a host of Doctors to figure this out. I keep telling people to not buy the cutsie stuff to represent the cancers and just donate to the research. Ach!!! It needs to be cured!!!!!!!!
hugs.
i am climbing off the soap box now.........

My brothers doctor is doing the gene testing
She figures as mine did that we have a suppressed gene somewher. My ins denied it, and my sister had some gene work done but no results yet. There has to be something. Like Sherry, my moms family had longevity but with cancer. Most were in their 80's, all but 2, it is us cousins who are getting it early and not surviving.

It's like any big picture. Seems obvious to most of us, but nobody cares unless they will make some money from it
Love you Ninja. Hope you are still laughing Babe!
