Keytruda - An Update

Seasons greetings all. It's been a while so thought I'd post an update. Last week I commenced Keytruda treatment in Singapore where I reside.

The infusion was very short ( 30 minutes ) and was not a problem. However more or less post infusion the side effects kicked in. These being achey body, headache, sweats and joint ache. This lasted for around two days and was like a bad flu. After the initial 48 hours of feeling rubbish things cleared up and I felt ok. Since then I've had one day of feeling like junk but for me the side effects are not as bad as chemo. The plan from here is to have another infusion in two weeks followed by a scan.

I would say it's taken about a week post infusion to feel completely ok ( bar the cancer, ha ) Appetite has not been affected nor has sleeping. That said I've experienced some fatigue but wonder if that is a chemo hangover ( I had 8 months on Carbo, Erbutix and Pac ) this year. I'll let you know how infusion number two goes.

For those wondering I had a SCC on my tongue, had a partial glossectomy and radical neck dissection plus 3 x cisplatins and 30 radiations all in 2013. Things were cool for 3 years then this year, boom, mets to my bones, lungs, kidneys and liver. 8 months of chemo plus keytruda is holding things at bay.

Until next time seasons greetings and Happy Christmas to you all.

    Please do keep us updated!!

I'm sorry they dragged you through Carbo and Taxol first before starting the Keytruda....and I'm glad to hear your appetite and sleeping aren't being affected.  I'm sure the flu feeling was your immune system kicking in with the Keytruda, and thank God it didn't last!  I'm very interested in how the Keytruda treats the cancer....and how it treats you.  YOU have a very Merry Christmas.
