In what feels like a life time, my husband finishes treatment tomorrow!!  I hope he also gets his port out tomorrow after it is used for the  final time!

This discussion board has been so much help along the way.  Thanks to all and I'm sure I'll check back in when I have questions...I dread knowing that he will still be "cooking' for the final two weeks post treatment.  What a bummer!

Again, thanks to all,

Margi Greene

    Finishing

    Margi,

I am glad for both of you.  It is time to let the healing begin.

Your new normal is but a few swallows away.

    Take care,

    Matt

    Congratulations

Good luck and congratulations. We were told that we might want to wait to remove the port until the first checkup comes back cancer free. Wishing your husband a speedy recovery.

    The Port

They wanted him to leave it in until April when he has his PET scan.  Bummer.  We wanted to move toward all reminders being gone. Oh well. He's still early in the end portion of treatments.  He's hurting pretty badly, but we knew to expect this.  Hoping it goes away sooner rather than later!

    MJG1,

You both will have plenty of reminders.  Enough to last you the rest of your life.

Yeah, my husband did not get

Yeah, my husband did not get his port out for a long time. Plus it was a surgery to remove it. But treatment is over and that is the main thing. Now time to heal.

I am sure there will be some....I've also talked to many people who have very little if any reminders.  Just the luck of the draw I guess.
