Re: Second Update on Reoccurrence
Hi Ladies:
I saw my oncologist this morning. Rather than trying chemo right now, my oncologist recommended he wants me to take medication called Tamoxifen. It is also used to help with breast cancer as well and is used to treat uterine or endometrial cancer which I have. Anyway, he said the medication works for 1 out of 3 women so to me it is worth a try. He has about 15 years of trying this medication on women with our cancer. I go back and see him the end of this month and am scheduled for blood work every month for the next 3 months to see if it does work and then see my oncologist a week later.
Chemo is rather harsh as you know, and when I took chemo over 5 years ago, my platelets were very low plus I did have nausea after the chemo treatments some times. If the medication does not work for me, then I will have to go on chemo in 3 months, but I definitely want to give this medication a try.
Has anyone else tried Tamoxifen for a reoccurrence. I am going to start taking the medication tomorrow.
I will keep you ladies informed.
Cheerful
a/k/a Jane

I took it for breast cancer
and in the back of my little mind even though I had very little chance of recurrence of endometrial cancer, I liked that I was on it because I also had endometrial cancer, but I did have Grade 1 endo cancer. I doubt that I "needed" it, but it made me feel good anyway. I hope it works for you. IF your cancer was estrogen receptor positive, I think it stands a good chance of working. Good luck. Please let us know.

No, but for the same reason I take an aromatase inhibitor, Anastrozole, which blocks ES production.
