omentum cancer
Wife had nstaqge 3 stomach cancer. Treated , Chemo and radiation at MD Anderson for 3 years Told in October 2014 she was cancer free (after CT scans and MRI's)and no need to come back. In December she complained about cramping and went back to MD Anderson and they did a colonoscopy and to our shock we were told she had stage 4 Colon cancer and that she had 24 months to live. How in the hell can this be, 4 months earlier we were cancer free and now stage 4 colon cancer. We sought out second opinion and whent To CTCA in Atlasnta. Even though the diagonis was the same, they did operate and rerouted her small intestion away from the colon cancer, but said it was only do0ne to help her eat and maintain her weight. They said her cancer had spread to her omentumk and it was like a spider web matted to her entire bowel. She was on Chemo for 10 months and is now on Xeloda 1 week on 1 week off 3 pills twice a day. The big proble we have mis being able to measure if the chemo is working or not as the Omentium cancer doers not show up in CT scans or MRI's. We would like to try immumotherapy but again there is no way to judge the effects of the drugs on the cancer. Thanks God the3 cancer has not spraed to any other organs. Any suggestion or ideas??

Hi, I'm curious if your wife did try immunotherapy? My brother was just diagnosed with what is called cancer of the unknown primary. Basically means the doctors do not know where the cancer originated, however they know it is in his omentum. Doctors are stating his cancer is treatable, but not curable. However, treating with chemo is not a long term solution. I'm curious what type of treatment(s) did your oncologist recommend for your wife's situation now that it spread to the omentum? He just started chemo(folfox) two weeks ago. Thanks
