Found out yesterday I can keep my doctor!

I talked to my insurance agent yesterday and found out, at the last minute, one of the insurance companies in the exchange has added my medical group.  Basically, Green Bay is divided into only two groups.  When the list of insurance companies came out only one group was covered in ANY of the policies.  A LOT of people were going to have to leave the uncovered group and when they realized that, they scrambled to get a contract in place with the insurance company so they wouldn't lose so many patients.

I only have to deal with private insurance until June (my husband until April) when I turn 65, but I worried my cancer would come back within that time frame.  I would also have lost my GP who I trust to look out for my best interests.  I see her on Monday and am going to ask for a full blood panel.  Some days this fatigue is just overwhelming but I'm assuming a big part of it is because I need more thyroid medication.  I'm also asking her to up my metformin since studies have shown it reduced metastasizing (thanks to TakingControl58 for that info!!!!).

Yesterday, Green Bay hit a record high of 67 beating the old record by three degrees.  I am so lucky to be able to get out and about with this beautiful weather.  I don't look forward to ice and snow since I am still kind of unsteady on my feet sometimes and may have to go back to relying on my cane......but, I'm alive and except for this d*am neuropathy, am not in pain.  I see my acupressurist next week too and truly believe that is helping.

Have a good weekend my dear friends!!  I'm headed up to our lake house this afternoon - my husband and son went up yesterday and we should have a beautiful weekend.

Love,

Eldri

    So glad to hear!

Thanks for letting us know your good news, what a relief not to have to change Drs!!!  I was having to deal with Ins. stuff up til yesterday also- it's the pits but found by paying more I can stay where I am and that's where I am most comfortable like so many of us are.

Have you ever tried walking/trekking poles?  I have a set and love walking with them outside.  I see lots of people with one or both even in the city.  Thought they might be great in the ice and snow.

Have a beautiful weekend at the lake!  Sounds beautiful!!!  (((HUGS)))

    I never thought of trekking

I never thought of trekking poles!  I see people walk with them too.  There is an older gentleman that walks every day with his German shepherd that has one.  (We've lived out here in the country for 25 years and at least for the past ten, that man probably walks ten miles a day.  When the weather is really bad, he leaves the dog at home!!)  Those poles look soooo much cooler than a cane, don't they???  LOL

    Yes, they do

i use one when my knee flares up or for hiking.  Consider the folding ones.  Much easier to keep handy.  They would actually fit in a medium sized purse.  My son in law gave me a new set last Christmas and I much perfer them to what I had.
