And the hits just keep on comin'
So. It seems that while on chemo, with my immune system compromised, I picked up a MRSA infection. A large lump swelled up in my non-cancerous breast and I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I knew it was something other than cancer because it hurt like crazy, turned red, and started weeping. Turns out, it's a staph infection and not just staph, antibiotic resistant staph. Anyone had any experience with MRSA?

I got staph when I started
I got staph when I started chemo which got me a private room at the end of the hallway for a week. No symptoms I couldn't handle and enjoyed the 24/7 ice cream. My niece has had MRSA a number of times along with her pre-existing conditions. What she hates most is the time it takes from living her life but she always comes through ok.
Hope it goes well for you too but they told her once a MRSA always a MRSA so get prevention advisements

So sorry!
Peony...I'm so sorry you're having to deal with MRSA! I've never had it, but during my chemo back in December 2015, I developed a toenail fungus, which I'm still trying to get rid of! Like I tell everyone...Chemo...the gift that just keeps on giving! Feel better soon!

You were right Sherry. Even though the abcess has cleared up, I will be a MRSA carrier while the infection lays dormant in my body. I feel fine, but it's a not so nice feeling knowing you're a carrier of an infection and are pretty contagious. But, Thanksgiving's here and I've got plenty to be thankful for and life goes on.

Punches
Peony, I did not get MRSA, I had stapf after my surgery. It happens to the best of us. Like cancer, it crosses all lines. It was nothing you did. I pray it stays in remission and dont pop it's head again. It sounds like your pretty positive about it and the holidays are upon us and that is always nice. Keep your positive energy flowing. Hugs and prayers.
