Hey y'all...
I am trying to get back to normal, whatever that is. I did have my 6th year clear in Oct. Heart steel beating but they found another birth defect. Leaving that alone for now. The fall did more damage than they thought. I did a CT scan that was ok, but I did have a bad concussion. My speach is somewhat effected. I can see the word in my mind, but can't say it. Not clots, but they did find that my blood was so thin if iI fall or get in a wreck I will bleed to death internaly. Yes, still on Warfarin...they don't want me to stop...just be careful...stupid doctors! But on a brighter note my next to youngest son got married last night! I was pretty wobbly, but my youngest son promised me he wouldn't let me fall!
It is with great sorrow that I see so many new ladies here...thought I was on the wrong board at first. I wont be on much, still having blurry vision. But I'm here.(Eldri, sorry I didn't reply to your email. Bothe eyes were swollen shut!) Best to all, Debra

Wow
Debrajo,
You have been busy. Congratulations on 6 years. What a great landmark.
Sorry to hear about the fall and head injury. I'm just putting this out there, because if I was in your shoes, I would definitely look into it. A couple of years ago, I read an amazing book, "Why Isn't My Brain Working?" by Dr. Datis Kharrazian. He has very successful approaches to brain health and dealing with brain injuries. He has a clinic in San Diego, I believe, but he also travels around the country to teach his approach to other practitioners. One of them might be able to help you and would probably even safely get you off of the Warfarin too.
I hope things work out for you and things settle down soon.

I was just thinking about you
I was just thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing - so glad to hear from you!!! My doctor thinks I had a bit of bleeding in my brain from my blood pressure going so high during chemo that caused a small stroke. I know EXACTLY what you mean about seeing the word but being unable to say it!!
I'm glad you were able to attend your son's wedding and hope things get better for you real soon! (((Debrajo)))
Love,
Eldri

Thanks Kate! My brain has not been right since the second chemo. I thought it would fade, but it didn't and now this head injury. I swear, If I have to do a sobriety check by a cop I will fall flat on my face, and I don't even drink! I will be looking this doctor up on line and see when he will be in Houston! Thanks again, Best, Debra

Congratulations on your son's
Congratulations on your son's wedding! I believe that being able to experience special occassions like that is one of the main reasons we all fight so hard against this beast. So very sorry to hear about your head injury. You might want to consider getting a second opinion from an expert neurologist just to be sure you have all of your bases covered. Hoping that you have a fast and full recovery! Kim

Conrgrats Debra Jo on your 6years NED! But I'm so sorry about your other health issues. I hope the docs can find something to help with your blood. I was on warfrin for about 6 months 8 years ago, but eventually got off of it. I have a friend who was on for many years, but no she is on another blood thinner that works better with her body. I'm not sure of the name of it. Have they considered an alternate treatment for you? Prayers for you!

Hi Debra,
Hi Debra,
Congratulations on 6 years NED! I'm sorry to hear that you are still suffering from various health issues, and I hope with time this gets better. Please take care of yourself and update us again soon! It's great to hear from the ladies who have successfully gone through treatment and have had many years of NED. It gives me hope!
