Hi, if anyone has new information about new treatments I would like for you to share.

I watched a show a few weeks ago about an IBM computer called Watson being used at some hospitals to help oncologist pick the best treatment for cancer patients.  The show said Watson was correct more times than the oncologist because it could read research material faster than the doctors. I found this link talking about it.

My doctor invented the CA125. He has discovered a new biomarker. Anti-TP53 Autoantibodies. It can detect ovarian cancer 13 months before the CA 125 rises. For those that the CA 125 does not rise it detects 33 months before they were previously able to diagnose.

He is working on a scan that is better than a CT, mri, and the pet for ovarian cancer. He is looking for the best biomarks to be used to make the best identifying signal for SQUID (superconducting quantum interfering device). Maybe one day we will all be getting a SQUID scan.

Any new info out there I would love for you to share.

    Thanks so much for this tealnpink. As I have BRCA and my kids may one day be forced to deal with being BRCA too, any advances are most welcome. My daughter sometimes worries about needing preventative mastectomies and oopherectomies and it is information like this that gives us both hope!!! We'd much rather she need a regular SQUID than an oopherectomy.

    Let us know if he ever needs persons to participate in clinical trials. I'm all for research and am more than willing to participate whenever possible.

    Your doctor sounds very accomplished.  I hope he continues to find ways to diagnose and treat ovarian cancer.  There are a few things I have learne with regard to identifying the best treatment options.  

    The Clearity Foundation will accept a tumor sample.  They do a genetic comparision between your tumor and their database to see what has worked for other patients with similar genetic coding in their tumors.  This is free, but you need to contact them before you have surgery or a biopsy so they can tell you what you need to know about the sample and how to ship and handle it.  Since current first line treatment is considered the 'gold standard,' this is more helpful for recurrances.  http://www.clearityfoundation.org/?gclid=CNa19bfW9M8CFQqRaQodHa4Gzw

    There is also Rational Therapeutics which takes a tumor or ascites sample and does cell death assays on the sample, testing various drugs to see what has the most impact on your personal cancer cells.  This is not free and again you have to contact them before having the procedure so they can send you the supplies you will need to have the sample processed.  https://www.rational-t.com/

    The next two require that you work with some type of practitioner, and as far as I know, oncologists don't deal with these tests, so you would need to find a naturopath or functional medicine doctor or integrative oncologist, who offers these tests.  They are both blood tests that are sent to labs overseas where the cells are tested for various drugs for chemo sensitivity and also alternative and integrative therapies, such as mistletoe, hyperthermia, various supplements and vitamin C IVs to name a few, to determine which will be most effective for you.  The two tests are called Biofocus and RGCC.  The labs are located in Germany and Greece, respectively.
