    Pat~Hope this is a one-time scare & doesn't happen again!

    Hello again Pat,

Just wanted to say hello.  You say you just got a port 3 weeks ago.  Why so late with putting in a port?    I had a port put in just days before my treatments started.  I've never had a problem with my port, and it's been in since Feb. of 2012.  How are you faring with the side effects from the chemo?  My husband has had an irregular heartbeat since birth.  He had a port with his chemo but never had a problem with his heart.  So hope you find out the answer to your question.  And of course, hope nothing is seriously wrong with your heart.  There may be some who read your letter that will be able to relate to your problem.  If so, they'll be along soon.

    Praying for you often,

    Loretta

    Atrial fibrillation

I've had issues with my heart. It goes out of rhythm.  First time was the day I learned my diagnosis.  It didn't happen again for three years and then again a couple of years after that.  I've been taking Metoprolol for three years to control the atrial fibrillation and late last year started taking Warfarin.  I have been on and off chemo for 6 1/2 years.  I had a port put in in December of 2013 when my veins began to fail.  I had a port in my abdomen placed during debulking surgery that was removed when my initial treatment ended in 2010.  My problems with my heart seem to increase when I am wiped out from chemo.  But the last couple of days I have been short of breath with my heart racing although my last infusion was December 2nd.  There is no rhyme or reason to Atrial fibrillationthis.  I am not in remission and will likely start chemo soon as my count goes up.  I was 62 when diagnosed and in perfect health.  Between the chemo and the cancer my body has taken a hit it can never recoup from.  But I am still here and will continue doing what I have to do.

    I had tachycardia from

I had tachycardia from carboplautin. They had to take me off. Maybe there is an alternative because you don't want to keep the same drug with this reaction
