Chronic and incurable :(

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

Just finished my initial appointment at MD Anderson.  My cancer is considered chronic/incurable.  I will be in treatment for the rest of my life.  The doctor said that I am not terminal, as other than cancer, I am in really good health...  I restart doxil in another week or so.

    So sorry that you had to hear those words.  I heard them almost three years ago and I just wanted to let you know that I have had many more good days than bad.  I have had two short chemo vacations.  Never give up hope there are new treatments coming all the time.  I am now on an immunotherapy drug that is very promising.  Sending hugs and prayers for you.  Lou Ann

    Good and Bad

    I am so sorry that it isn't curable but I am also so happy it is treatable.  I wish you didn't have to go through any of this but please remember, you can survive and as Lou Ann is a great example, you can thrive.  I pray you will soon come to peace with this and I am so sorry you have to endure it.  God bless you and keep you and your family.

    So sorry to hear this. But please dont believe in incurable word. Stay positive. Hopefully the right treatment finds you soon and you become cured.

    Science keeps evolving

    Your diagnosis is intimidating at the moment, but the fact that it is not terminal and is treatable is cause for hope. Lou Ann is such a good example of that! The science and treatments for this cancer seem to keep evolving and changing pretty fast, so hang in there so you can take advantage of what the future may offer. Please keep us updated with how you are doing.

    Jodi, Sorry to hear this news but glad that it is treatable. Like the other ladies have said, that is good news and there are new things coming for us right around the corner! Stay strong Jodi and please reach out to us when you need a shoulder!  Remember: today it is chronic. But, tomorrow.... who knows? That new formula may just show up and provide you NED.

    Don't despair! We need to treat the beast until a cure is found - they are so close! You are in good hands at MD Anderson. May God bless you and give you the strength you need to get through every day - one foot in  front of the other. We are with you!

    Did they at least give you some treatment options?

    Treatment

    I'm doing Doxil every 28 days, with pet scan at 3-4 months. Then re-evaluate at the end. They said I'm likely BRCA+. I start chemo in another week or so. May not be at MD Anderson, trying to decide next move. My husband is career military. We are due for orders in May-June timeframe. Looking at C. Springs or SAN Antonio.

    Our son with Type 1 diabetes

    Our son with Type 1 diabetes is also considered having an incurable but treatable disease and with all the improvements in treatment is expected to live an "almost"  normal lifespan.   New treatments are coming all the time for cancer and you want to be in the best health possible for when that cure comes!!
