i had chemoradiation for 28 sessions before I started my carbo/taxol chemo. As it turns out I ended up with a complication from the radiation - necrosis In the tumor that got the radiation. It's been very uncomfortable and almost worst then the side effects of the chemo. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Radiation treatment came after tumor was removed

Welcome to our group, Kallison, although I'm sorry that you've needed to join. I did not experience necrosis since my radiation treatment came after my tumor was removed. There may be others in this group who have and are willing to share their experiences with you. Regarding the painful side effects, have you talked to your rad-onc's office? They should be able to help you out with that. I hope that you get relief soon. Kim

I'm sorry but I'm showing my

I'm sorry but I'm showing my ignorance here. What is necrosis? I will tell you I had radiation both external and internal before I had chemo. I seem to have lasting effects from radiation with digestive problems. Some days are fine but I do have bouts of stomach pain and constipation.

    Necrosis definition

Soup, here is the definition: the death of most or all of the cells in an organ or tissue due to disease, injury, or failure of the blood supply.

    Necrosis

My uterus was described as being full of necrosis at my initial biopsy, before I had any surgery or chemo. (I did not have an radiation.)

So I had tissue in my uterus that was already destroyed by the disease itself.

    My sister has radiation necrosis

my sister had endometrial clear cell cancer and had a total hysterectoMy. Then chemo/externa radiation/ chemo. Maybe 6 months from finishing chemo she was diagnosEd with 3 Mets to her brain. She had true beam Radiation, kind of like the gamma knife, and that shrunk the tumors. She was going every 3 months for MRI of brain and scans of abdomen and chest. The 6th month 1 that was pretty much gone grew back rapidly. She ended up having open brain surgery and they removed most of it. The pathology on it came back that it was radiation necrosis. But she still has 2 more that are growing but not as fast. But they are gro enough that they are going to start chemo on her this week. If that doesn’t shrink them then it will be open brain surgery. She will lose some of her senses. Good news is no new cancer but fighting this has worn her down so much. Shes only 41 now.
