Recent Lung CT scan doctor wants to talk to me i am scared looking for support
i had a ct scam done on monday and tuesday the doctors office called saying the doctor needed me to make an appointment to discuss the results. i have no syptoms but asked for the test to be done as i could be losing my benefits later this year and wanted all tests possible done. I am totally freaking out here and my appointment is not until Friday. Is it customary that they want to discuss the results no matter what the results are?

Hi Aglagirl!
Hi Aglagirl!
Just Breathe... It is normal to discuss test results at a separate appointment, regardless of the results. I am so sorry that you have to wait so long. It can be so difficult. Take one day at a time and your appointment will be here before you know it. Hang in there! Maybe if you try to keep busy, that will help a little.

Thank you so much for the support and response Allyson Frame. My mind is racing but fortunately I have a lot to do today to keep me busy. I sure am hoping as you say no matter what the results they want to meet to discuss. I am hoping it is just a swift kick in the rear to get me on track to stop this stupid smoking habit I have. Have a great day and peace be with all of us.

I have 2 suspicious nodules and will go to pulmonary doc and of course they will biopsy and possible pet scan we are working to get that set up now they are a 4 on suspect.scale
Until its biopsied its not cancer. How big are they? I did have a 7mm that grew to 1.1 cm upon rescan 2 months later and my lower right lobe was removed via vats surgery, (squamous cell cancer), and that was 9-23-10, and I am fine now.
While having a follow up scan a year later, I had a 3mm nodule on my left lung and upon rescan 2 months later it was gone. So they can come and go. It could be an infection as well. Keep us posted and I wish you well. BTW, if it is anything it will have been caught very early which is the best thing possible.

thank your lori for the positive feed back the pcp said they are both about an inch in size one in each lung. and I am sure hoping by me being proactive in my asking to be checked that it is a good thing. did you have to have chemo or radiation? I am keeping myself busy and positive that it is early detection and it is anodules and not masses. the mind is such a pwerful thing just races all over. but I am also proud to say I have had probably only half as many smokes as I would have had normally today. glad all is well with you and prayers for continued good reports

Hello, An inch is still pretty small. I was a stage 1a NOMO, I had no chemo or radiation. I had an anal cancer stage II and completed tx for that on 6-30-09, so I was having follow up scans when the lung cancer was found. The lung cancer wasn't a metasis from the anal cancer because it had no hpv in it, whereas, the anal cancer did. I was a 35 year, pack a day smoker and quit on 5-4-09 after the anal cancer dx. The dr said I would do better because of the chemo/rad. I used the nicorette gum to quit which I loved. When I had my vats surgery for the lung cancer the PA said I sould quit the gum, and because I had no gum while I was in the hospital recovering from vats surgery, it was easier to detox. I chew regular gum now. I know I would smoke now if it wouldn't hurt my health. Both of my cancers are caused by smoking as well. I wouldn't have quit if not for the cancers. I wish you well and keep us posted. Lori

I have done the pet scan and
I have done the pet scan and met again with the doc and I am so relived to report that nothing lit up on the pet scan sooooo........we will continue to watch the nodule and do CT scan every 90 days for 2 years. The doc did say that typically the size nodule that I have would show up on the pet scan so we are taking that as a good sign. I am also very happy to say I am smoker free for 16 days. Hugs to all suffering may you have some releif today!!

I have lung cancer and just
I have lung cancer and just being monitored right now with periodic scans. I did Chemo and radiation. I was also a smoker and initially the surgeon thought he could operate, but I had to be smoke free for at least two weeks prior. So you need to quit smoking now so you don't delay any treatments. Hugs to you! I actually quit smoking but now am addicted to vaping....on lowest nicotine. Doctor wasn't thrilled but let it go.

lung cancer
Dear Gloria I pray that all goes well with you. I was diagnosed 6 years ago. left lower lobectomy, right upper wedge. 2 surgeries 6 weeks apart, then chemo. Best advice i can give is to do cardio 4 to 5 times per week. take it slow then work up to 30 to 40 minutes a day. Try and work on your heart rate for your age. No matter your current shape just start somewhere. Be dedicated it is your life. I pray that God will have mercy, and fully heal you. He will listen just ask.
