lung mets
Hello- I know there are some women who had lung mets. What were your treatments? Did it spread anywhere else? My mom possibly has lung mets....everything else on pathology was negative...lymph nodes included. So weird....so it possibly jumped to the lungs....Doctors are having a heck of a time trying to figure this out and the CT guided biopsy was negative but the largest nodule was too hard to biopsy due to location by the liver. My thought is maybe we assume this is metastatic uterine cancer and start treatment and see if they shrink? She did a pet scan that showed very mild uptake in just one of the nodules...the pulmonoligist still thinks these could be benign. She had her 3 month f/u CT scan to see growth and the radiologists don't feel they have changed much at all. UGH! She is a medical mystery. Her gyn onc said he has never seen this jump to the lungs with such negative pathology/staging after surgery. She would be a 1a if the lung nodules weren't there according to her gyn onc. Thanks for any help.

So sorry
about your mom. I had a lung met and was a 1a with no involvement of the lymph nodes. I had only one but it contained uterine cells. I had a lobectomy middle lobe right lung and they got tumor out with clean margins. There is still a high chance of it returning. I then had 6 chemo treatments. Still clear 11 months out from treatment. Hope all goes well with your mom.

Was yours serous papillary? Did they do a biopsy to determine it was uterine cells? Thank you!!!

Cindy, I must have missed
Cindy, I must have missed that on one of your messages - I'm sorry I didn't know about your lung mets. I know I am ALWAYS asked if I have a persistant cough or trouble breathing when I visit the onc, which tells me that lung mets is a common concern.
iloverunning, I hope it is benign.

lung mets
Hey there.. I don't come here or post very often anymore.. my mother had lung mets. Her cancer was very advanced by the time she was diagnosed and it was in her lungs. The chemo took care of that very well (Carbo/taxol) but unfortunately it was widespread all thru her pelvic area and she had a spot on her liver. Though the drs. lied and said her liver was fine initially. Anyhow, yes lung mets is pretty common ..does she have a cough? my mother has a slight cough for a long time before she was diagnosed. Prior to , never had any lung/breathing issues. Her GP kept telling her and us it was age related asthma.. the unexplained cough is the key. Also, get the pet scan results.. what was the SUV = standard uptake volume. We were told anything over 2.9 was most likely cancer. My mother's nos. were high, in the teens..
Good luck to her and you. Wishing you the best.

Thanks Cindy. Actually her pelvis was totally negative. Liver looks great. Pet scan said suv of 4.2 which pulmonologist said mild uptake. Her other nodules did not light up. My mom feels get. Passed her pulmonary function tests with flying colors. No cough. No breathing issues.

Lung Mets
I am so sorry but am very hopeful for a positive outcome.. did want to ask when was the original dx and surgery treatment and how far out did they discover the mets? And how were they found, a CT?
I really do send you and your mom all the best. Cindy, as always, the best wishes to you.

The lung nodules were discovered on chest preop ct scan in March At time of diagnosis. But her staging and surgery found no cancer besides what was found on d&c. He did a full abdominal hysterectomy with OMENECTOMY lymph nodes etc. he is a nationally well known surgeon and I trust his staging. That's why these nodules (which aren't considered mets yet) are perplexing. She feels great too. Age 70 and was biking this weekend!
