My radiation recovery - Week 2

It's hard to believe I'm 16 days past my last treatment. My recovery seems to be going well, just slow as expected.

But, I think I've turned the corner, at this point.

I'm staying on liquids through July. The salty taste is just too much to attempt solids. Amazingly, I am still maintaining my weight with just 2 shakes a day.

I have just about finished taking meds. They were a Godsend but the pain is lessening each day. Mouth sores are healing well.

Fatigue is my biggest enemy right now. I go back to work Monday but not sure how that will work out. Good thing I have a desk job close to home.

Nausea was a slight issue but seems to have leveled off.

Mucous is clearing little by little. I no longer wake up coughing or vomiting, which is a nice change.

The skin that was radiated looks a little weird. I suddenly look so old with the way my skin is sagging around my mouth and neck. Will that improve any?

    Glad to hear

you've turned a corner. The skin will look better Steven. As for fatique - that may be the thing that takes the longest to inmprove . Just keep on taking it one day at a time and you'll be fine. You've got the right mindset, you've got the fortitude, and on here you've got a cheering section.

    getting better

    Steven,

You are not normal yet, what gives (lol)?

Maybe, you could construct a bed under your desk?  H&N Rule 3, “always be prepared”.

The neck skin does improve, but if you are like me, it is NOT like it was, not even close.  Damn those helpful rads.

    Keep moving forward.

    Keep positive

week 5 post rads was my real turning point with added sold foods and the 6th week was what I was hoping for. Yesterday suddenly my tongue felt so good. I could wiggle it more than I could before and I AM WHISTLING!

little things make me feel so good.

my whistle is soft but it's there and I think it can only get better.

You are just behind me with recovery and I think you did better so hopefully the fifth and sixth week delver much better results for you.
