taxol/carbo vs. doxorubicin/cisplatin

Hi all. Just wanted to get some chemo thoughts/opinions. My mom had a bad reaction to taxol/carbo during her second treatment a couple weeks ago (chest pains, redness, "seeing stars" within the first 45 seconds) and is starting her new regimen of doxorubicin and cisplatin today. This new chemo seems like it is less frequently used, so I'm just wondering if anyone has more knowledge or personal experience with it. Thanks in advance!

    Doxil

i was on Doxil for 7 treatments.  It diminished some small tumors and let the large ones grow.  One intertwined itself in my small intestines causing a bowel blockage. Had open bowel resection tumor and 42 cm of intestine removed.  For me the side effects were harsher than Taxol/carbo and very unpredictable.  Not a good experience for me.

remember webare all different and what doesn't work f one might be perfect for someone else.

    Hugs and prayers, Lou Ann

I had a reaction to taxol within seconds of my first infusion. They treated me. I took some heavy-duty steroids (which I have decreased over the past 11 infusions) and they slowed down the drip. That seemed to work. I never had another reaction. Good luck. As LouAnn says, everyone reacts differently.

    Doxil reaction

I've had 3 out of 6 Doxil treatments.  I don't have any trouble with the infusion but the side effects "blossom" over each week.  First fatique and blahs, then hand and/or foot syndrome going into mucusitis of my mouth and tongue and anal area.  And I thought having a baby was a scream!  Ouch.  Also, I get red spots on my skin and sunlight causes red rashy bumps and itchiness!  My skin is really reacting, including sore elbows and heels.  Has anyone had these type of reactions and have you found what helps the best?

    I had Doxil and Carbo,

I had Doxil and Carbo, because I already have neuropathy, not much in terms of reaction, but then again it did nothing for the cancer.
