The good things about cancer:

I have my six month exam next week and I was feeling a little anxious this morning and then I started to think about the GOOD things that have come about because of the cancer.

1.  I appreciate life more and every day without pain is a blessing.

2.  I kind of like this new hairdo.  I've never had short hair, much less short, curly hair and I kind of dig it.  It takes me about five minutes to wash, condition, dry and style whereas my long hair took at least 30-45 minutes each day.

3.  I have been amazed at the support I've received from friends and family.  And, strangers were so nice to me when I was bald - LOL!!

4.  I have learned a lot about myself and what a tough old bird I truly am.

5.  I have met the best group of women on this site.  You all know firsthand what we're going through and you have supported each other through thick, thin and even death.  You've rejoiced when there's good news and you have cried together when there is bad.  I love you all!

Love,

Eldri

    good things for sure

Hi Eldri,  I was sitting on my couch today feeling sad about alot of things. One of which was my wig.  I loved it in the store but the lady had to order it in the right color.  The wig that came just didnt look as much as the original one.  So I felt sad.  But then as I was sitting there I realized a blessing I got from wearing a wig 20 plus years ago when I had cancer before.  It was this.  I didnt have to do my hair.  For exsample I didnt have to wash it, blow dry it or staighten it.  My hair hasent fallen out yet but I was sitting here with my wig on just for practice and said to my son, " Maybe I will where my wig tonight to my outing I have to go to. That way I dont have to staighten my hair.  It is a blessing to have cancer!!!  I havent decided if I am going to wear it tonight but it definetly is an option.  Thanks for sharing your good things.

    All so very true !!!

Each morning I get a shower and put my makeup on (which isn't much just eyebrow and eyeliner) look in mirror and look at my heavy peach fuzz.  All that took a total of 15 minutes I think how I would be curling my hair yet.  And then I say to myself well if nothing else I sure love to get done so much quicker.  I think the biggest thing right now is I am ned and praying very hard that I stay this way.

Love and hugs to all you wonderful ladies.

    Jerri

.....I had my 1st infusion on

.....I had my 1st infusion on Friday and I am making myself get out of bed.  I'm feeling very low and sick.  Thinking......Is this how it's going to be for every treatment?.....Will I get sicker, will it get better?...... I know-I know everybody's different and there is no predictor (it's just what I am asking myself)

Tuesday Spent 5 hrs in ER, but trying to feel grateful that I have wonderful healthcare near by. Because of your positive comments, I am trying to be grateful for the all the positive things in my life!!!!

Thank you, dear ladies for holding all of us up in thoughts and prayers.

    Hi

You will feel better. I forgot what kind of chemo you are on.  I was on Taxol and Carboplatin for many rounds and had very similar reaction each time. I kept a journal and that was helpful because I could predict on what days I would feel the worst and what side effects and when. Remember you are stronger than you can hint and you will make it through that bad days.  There is a bright light at the end of this tunnel and you will get there.  Hugs and prayers, Lou Ann

My first chemo was the worst,

Although my 2 & 3rd was almost as bad.  I never was nauseated, but didn't feel like eating, didn't have energy, and had a lot of nerve pain.  Sometimes it went from day 2-4, other times the fatigue would last about a week.  You will begin to feel better soon.  Hugs Nancy

    Lou Ann - YES!  I didn't get

Lou Ann - YES!  I didn't get any mosquito bites when I was going through chemo.  I figured I must have been emitting some odor that they knew if they drank my blood it would kill them when they bit me.  For what it's worth, I do judge getting bitten as I am no longer sick.

It was amusing to me but I respectfully have to say I really don't find anything good about cancer.  I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.  A few months ago I found a woman's purse on the metro platform at Washington Reagan National Airport.  The woman wanted to send me a bottle of wine.  I said if they want to do something for me I would request they pray for a cure for cancer.

I have purposley not commented on this post because I do applaude everyone who can find good about cancer.  I agree with NoTime times 10.  I have lost too much from this plague and I don't mean hair or looks.  Cancer has cost me almost everything I helt dear.  It has made me mad and afraid, short tempered, so much more I won't mention.  I don't even like me so I blame no one for how THEY feel about me.  This cost too much....no one should have to bare this.  Nothing good here....debrajo

    Hormonal Therapy

My doctor wants me to go off the carbo/taxol for a while.  I have had 10 rounds of treatment with minimal shrinkage.  I still have very small nodules.  They are all smaller than a centimeter.  One opinion is to put me on Letrozole.  The other oncologist thinks I should go on Megestrol/tamoxifen (alternating).  Please give me your opinions.  Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Good Things About Cancer

I enjoy my life more knowing that you cannot take it for granted.  I see so much beauty in nature.  You see your relationship with others as more meaningful.  You find out how strong you really are.  You are now able to help and share with others going thru this.  I appreciate each day I am alive!  I thank God for all of you!

    Hugs!

    willjh - have you contacted

willjh - have you contacted your oncologist about how you are feeling now? There may be something they can give to you to help you feel better. Suffering like that is not something you should have to tolerate. Please let us know how you are doing.

joyce, I am going to guess

joyce, I am going to guess you are seeing, working with, a gynecologic oncologist?  (To think only a few short years ago I had no idea these specialists existed!!!) I'm sorry I can't remember what kind of cancer you have, but some cannot be treated with hormones where others can.  Can you remind us if you had surgery?  Why wouldn't they remove the nodules?  Again, I'm sorry, but I can't remember your specifics.
