Aloe Juice

So I start my rads tomorrow and my nurse told me to get organic aloe juice and drink 2 oz before and after radiation. Just wondering if anyone here has tried this and if you felt it made a difference. Thanks , Shirley

I tried also but couldn't stand the taste

I stopped drinking because of the taste. Maybe you got a different one.

The taste was a turn off

The taste was a turn off years ago.  I read that there could be some intestinal issues from aloe juice. Where are you being treated?

I drank it because it felt

I drank it because it felt good on my sores. But to be honest, it seems once the radiation gets a hold of you after 4 to 5 weeks, medications are the only relief.

I have drank about 3 ounces

I have drank about 3 ounces mixed with L-glutamin (swish and swallow) since my radiation began.  Has it helped?  Who knows but I have not developed any significant mouth sores as of yet (15 of 33 rads complete / 3 of 6 Cispltin infusions complete).  Supposedly, studies in Thailand have indicated that pure aloe vera juice limits the severity of mucositis.  I may still be too early in my treatments to really tell, but I have been willing to try anything to make it through this ordeal.

    aloe

Hey Gypsy, try drinking it with a little unsweetened grape juice as it greatly reduces the bitterness of pure Aloe.  Or just buy a non pure Ale and drink a lot more of it, like water, and it will be far easier to accept.  Best wishes!

    We use a stawberry-kiwi flavored

aloe juice, that my husband seems to like. He mixes it with water and says it makes it's more slippery. We get it from Amazon. He continues to use it after his treatments finished because he feels it helps him with all the liquids he drinks to combat the dry mouth.

    Exposed

I bought the aloe juice and honey called Exposed. It has grape juice in it as well. Got it at Whole Foods for 1.69 a bottle 16.9 oz. Drank some yesterday I thought it was quite tasty.
