Geographic mouth from radiation

I have been in remission since January 2008.   Have some side effects from chemo and radiation.   Loss of hearing, lots of mucuous but one of the most pain ones that has continued over the years and wish I could resolve is geographic tongue.   It causes my mouth to burn and be very painful.  My ent has prescribed "magic mouthwash" and it soothes it some but it is a continuous problem.   Anyone else  experience this or have any other solutions.

And I also have experience a lot of dental problems and tooth loss so I have 2 partials and having to wear those is really painful in my mouth.

    try

L-glutamine. I swish and swallow it still and never had a mouth sore or oral thrush. You can buy it at most health food stores or amazon.

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the human body.  Taking extra glutamine can help replenish depleted body levels and prevent adverse health effects. For example, glutamine is the major fuel source of the cells that line the intestinal tract, and is therefore important in maintaining GI function. It is also the major fuel source for lymphocytes and macrophages, which are a vital part of the body’s immune defense. It acts both as a precursor for protein synthesis and a means by which excess toxic ammonia can be eliminated from the body. Finally, glutamine is important in the synthesis of glutathione, a molecule that helps detoxify foreign substances in the liver. One recent study says “It also appears that glutamine may significantly reduce the duration and severity of objective oral mucositis during and after radiotherapy.Link to paper

    Burning tongue and mouth

I am almost 3 months post-treatment.  One of the bigest hinderence I have had, is what you are experiencing.  I can chew, I can swallow but,  so often it burns during and after trying to eat or drink.  It makes it hard to make any advancements in eating.  I decided to type in burning tongue/mouth oral cancer and got "Burning Mouth Syndrome ."  We are not alone in this.  Check it out, interesting info and advice.  Let me know what you think.

    I've had episodes with that

I've had episodes with that before cancer, and now it's starting up again. But I do have auto immune diseases so cancer is not my only challenge. I hope it won't get worse after radiation! Very painful, and disheartening to have tongue on fire and you're eating bland foods.

    Good luck to you all.
