Radiation Doc Follow Up Today and Thank You
My husband met with his radiation oncologist today for a follow up visit. It has been 4 and a half months since he finished treatment for tongue cancer. The doc said that my husband looks excellent and that the prognosis looks great for him. The radiation and chemo was not required, and today the doc said he estimates there was a 70% chance it wasn't necessary (my husband's cancer was stage 1, but with peri neural invasion). But the doc said he is glad we did all the treatment that we did. No regrets. The doc sent my husband for a thyroid check (he last had it checked in March), but other than that, all is going great. 2 clean scans so far and the next one is in Mid August. If that scan is clean, he will get the chemo port taken out.
Our kids are out of school for the summer, our 15th wedding anniversary is next week, we have a couple of vacations coming up, and my husband's mom is coming down from PA to TX for a visit in a few weeks. So things are looking good on the other side. Thank you to all for helping us get here.

Also congratulations on you 15th anniversary. The thyroid often gets messed up with this but is such an easy fix. It can take several months to get it dialed in. I found during my surgery why I have always had to take thyroid. I thought mine just didn't work right. I have been on it over 50 years, I was only born with half a thyroid and 3 of the 4 parathyroids. Very glad he came through this so well, and thanks for the update.
