Lumpectomy with "cage"

Hello everyone, 

I am new to this group. Just came across it on a search. Wish I would have seen it last year. I went through breast cancer in 2015. Chemo followed by lumpectomy then radiation. During my lumpectomy surgery last August my surgeon put in something she called a "cage" in place of where the tumor was. She told me this was a procedure being used for cosmetic reason as a "filler" in the area. Over time it will disolve into your body once the tissue regrows around the area. It feels like a small ball. Has anyone else had this done? I'm trying to find out more info about it and I'm sure there is some sort of technical name for this. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this?

    i'm curious as well

    I also had a lumpectomy, but there was no mention of a cage.  I've never heard of it and I try to read anything and everything.  I kind of wish it had been available to me because that one is definately smaller than the other one now.

    I had 2 lumpectomies on the same side-I have never heard of such a thing.

    sounds very interesting, to say the least.

    Is it a new thing?

    I've never heard anyone refer to a "cage".  Interestig . . Let us know what you find out.

    I have never heard of it either.  

    There is another support group called lifting hearts.  It is strictly for Breast Cancer.  Very supportive.  I actually went on one of their retreats.  They were honestly one of the most positive group of women.  3 ladies started it because the closest support group in person was like 50 miles and it was for all cancers.  They were more comfortable with a Breast cancer Group.  It is all Stages, all kinds of BC.  They are so organized that they were able in just 2-2 years get funding for monthly in person groups, and 2 3 day retreats in a beautiful mountain cabin that sleep 20 BC suvivors, and 6 women facilitating, cooking and cleaning.  An amazing group both online and in pereon.
