Scaring myself or something I should have checked?
Hi all,
I had left neph last July, stage 1. I Have noticed on some FB pages that a few people were DX with a pulled muscle that later was found to be RCC mets. I was DX with a pulled muscle in my back, it was extremely painful until I stopped excersizing, used a hot water bottle, and took muscle relaxers for a few days. It went away for the most part but comes back mildly when I resume excersize. My question is...if it were something more than a pulled muscle would it get better as it has or progressively worse? I know that since my neph I am hyper aware of any symptoms of illness. I hate that I scare myself so much but it is what it is...any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you both, I have beenlcsvb said:duplicate
it double posted
Thank you both, I have been to dr. about it and he actually did some massage that made it feel better immediately, gave me flexeril. It's just been bothersome off and on for about four months so it starts making me crazy with worry. I have had two chest x Rays and one ct scan this year...all clear.

I'm no doctor but I would
I'm no doctor but I would think that a met that's causing pain like that would have to be large enough for the x-ray and/or CT to pick up. Also, why would a met hurt only when you exercise? I really think with the checkups they would have picked it up and you just have a pulled muscle but do go and see your doctor again just to aleviate your anxiety.

Thanks, I think you are probably right and I am just freaking myself out. I will check with my dr. just to be certain.

It's probably muscle related
I get the same symptoms and yes, it has the tendency to make me cuckoo. Since my surgery was in 2012 I sometimes find myself wondering if this muscle issue will ever be resolved. Apparently not, so I will just need to exercise less intensely?
If you had follow-up testing recently you should feel confident that all is fine. If not, call your doctor to ease your mind. Chances are pretty slim with stage 1 that you have mets.

Back pain
I had back pain for a long time after the surgery. It seemed to come and go with exertion as well. My doctor told me that even though it may look ok on the outside, they chopped up a lot more on the inside that you can't see. As the muscles heal, they pull on each other and such. I'd say my back wasn't right until about 6 months ago, which is about a year after.

Back Pain
My doc has said 1) If it's big enough to feel it will show up on a scan. 2) If it comes and goes, it's not a met. The pain will stay or get worse with a met.
I've been using that to guide me. Hope it helps. I'm not sure it's true in all conditions, but I think it's generally true.
