GU Energy Gel - did anyone try it/like it?
I completely forgot about this until just now. While I was in recovery...and feeling lower than low...a client sent me a box of GU Energy Gel in all the flavors. He is a marthon biker and bikers use them to refuel. Plastic envelope, tear off the top and swallow. It was pretty good, nothing I would buy now...but at the time it provided sustanance and was way easier than trying to eat anything even semi-solid. Didn't hurt or burn the open sores either.
Have any of you ever tried GU? What did you think?

Wow never heard of it. Is it
Wow never heard of it. Is it high protein or just carbs? My friend who had bariatric surgery had to drink those small concentrated high protein packs in the beginning. I should have put some in my tube. I could only ever get down three "bricks" of formula..never five.

Taken from the site...
What's in GU Energy Gel? GU's ingredients fall into 3 categories. For energy, you a get a blend of simple and complex carbs, plus a shot of caffeine and electrolytes to max out energy production at the cellular level. For endurance, GU gives you complex carbs from maltodextrin plus mineral citrates (potassium citrate, sodium citrate and citric acid) to help reduce acid build-up in muscles. Branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) serve as a vital fuel source during extreme exertion; they also aid in recovery . Histidine, an essential amino acid, acts as a carnosine precursor that also helps neutralize lactic acid build-up in muscles. Finally, for recovery, GU Energy Gel contains the antioxidant vitamins C & E to protect defend muscles from exercise-induced free radicals. Ginger provides additional antioxidant protection while soothing the stomach. Sea salt helps replace vital sodium and trace minerals.

GU Energy Gel
Hi Susan, would you know where you can get it? Thank you.

Amazon sells it...
and a lot of sports-related sites. Just google. If you do get it, here's a tip. The gel is thick (that's why athletes like it, it doesn't dribble out of the packet). I found it too thick so I would squeeze the gel into a Dixie cup, thin it with a bit of water, mix and drink it down. That worked well. Cheers!

Wish I would have heard of it....
but now that I have I might look into it now. I run out of gas about 3:00 and have to push myself for the rest of the night.
