First checkup after chemo today
While my doctor didn't use the word NED, he did said everything looked great and he would see me again in 3 months. He's laid back, but very aware that my cancer has a high rate of recurrance. He just said that we were in a watch mode, if I don't have any symptoms, then he was satisfied that I didn't need any scans. He also said that most of his patients don't come to him with sysmptoms after treatment, he sees something wrong during the exam to indicate further evaluation. So he said I get to take a summer vacation and call him if I was worried about anything. So, I guess it's officially NED for me for now. Hugs Nancy

Congrats Nancy
That's super! While never completely out of our minds, it is a huge milestone! Like you I'll be living my life in 3 months increments for the time being but it's still a huge thing when I look back at where I was 7 months ago! Hope you're feeling relieved and have some fun plans for the summer!

Hi Nancy,
Hi Nancy,
Awesome news. I am only 1/2 through my treatment and I have had several disturbing dreams about that check up after I finish therapy... that is a big one to get such good news.
Enjoy life and do something crazy to celebrate. (safe but insane!) I am thinking about buying a new trailer for camping and NOT telling my husband until it is delivered. ... Think I could get by with it right now. After the shock he would enjoy it!

Nancy, although I have a very
Nancy, although I have a very personable and likeable onc gyno.. he is blunt. He hits me with the very worse scenario and seldom paints any real positives .. I have adapted and if he is not telling me bad news I have found it is good news.. with no inflection. Think that may be standard due to a fear of false hopes and also litigation or complaints. So if my doc said it looks great and he would see me in three months it would definitely be party time. God bless and enjoy!

Wonderful news. What does NED stand for?
It means No Evidence of Disease. Doctors usually don't use remission or cured.
