    VERY unlikely to recur, BUT.....

I know that it would be nice to hear 0% instead of 4%, but those are still pretty good odds.  I'm always cautious here to advise anyone to just totally forget about it and move on with their life because, while the chances of recurrence are extremely slim, that slight chance is there.

So, don't panic.  It is extremely likely that you will be cured with surgery.  BUT, don't get so confident that you skip your followup scans.

Hugs my dear WCCO!! We can

Hugs my dear WCCO!! We can understand the shock, and anxiety that comes from hearing the C word! We're here for you, all the way if you want us to be! Soon enough this will all be in your past..whew!

My tumor was a bit bigger 4.4 but still Stage I. I truly believe the Cancer went with my kidney. 2.5 years later=no cancer!

Now you may not have your kidney removed, (called radical nephrectomy) but get a partial nephrectomy, where they only take the tumor and some surrounding tissue out leaving the rest of the kidney.A pathologist examines the tumor in the lab and your doctor will give you the results.

Hopefully you can have a robatic/laproscopic type surgery, which are small incisions ( about an inch each) it is less invasive and easier recovery. You can take walks, but no major exercise for about  month. Your insides and energy need to recooperate.

You'll get through this, you will! So take a breath, breathe IN..and let your breath out slowlywith teeth apart so you can relax your body and mind.

Keep asking any questions. We're  here for you!

    Hugs, Jan

    You have nothing

Constant companion, I am afraid. But you tumour is a tiddler and you assuredly can live a full and normal life. As someone once said, You have nothing to fear, but fear itself. Unfortunately being told out of the blue that you probaly have Kidney Cancer is enough to scare the s--t out of anone.

    scans

I had my tumor removed in April 2014 , it was about 5.4 stage  1 b ,had a checkup scans   4 mths later , now I had chest scans and adom. scans, once a year next year it will be only chest xray and pelvic scan done, with the needle in the arm. You will be fine . a little uncomfortable but doable. keep a postive attitude. I hardly ever think about my surgery . on to recovery .
