Not cancer. Still in pain. came home from ER, sleeping day away

in Colorectal Cancer #1

Next step is to call doctor. Possibly colonscopy. My hands and legs are swelling and my hip hurts so I wonder if there is some sort of swelling.

    Aw Helen, I'm sorry you're feeling so miserable. I'm glad it's not cancer, though. I hate how every time we get some weird thing now we have to wonder of it's cancer. Before cancer I'd secretly laugh at those people who would get some little ailment and worry it was cancer. Now I'm one of them.

    It's better to be safe than

    It's better to be safe than sorry... and I really can't blame anybody for doing this after a cancer diagnosis. My dad had a pain in his back and went right in (he would have NEVER done this before), and found out he probably pulled a muscle. My manager's wife had thyroid cancer (young, like early 30s) and had severe abdominal pain. She went in and had a stomach virus, but still, it's scary when something is going wrong, because you may have ignored it before (my dad ignored rectal bleeding for over a year before getting checked), and are just making sure you catch it this time.

    Better to be safe

    Before I was diagnosed, I went to the ER. They didn't see any evidence of a tumor, but their scans were probably not in the right place to see it. The cancer wasn't found until I had a colonoscopy. Better to follow up.

    Well none of the other stuff

    Well none of the other stuff alarmed me in the slightest, just the bleeding.  Of course, bleeding was how I found out I had cancer so it made sense.

    Yes I will definitely follow up because the bleeding means something is off.  The rest is just fluff.

    Bleeding is definitely scary.

    Bleeding is definitely scary... in any amount. Even the streaks from hemorrhoids freak me out now, but probably wouldn't before my dad was diagnosed. Hell, I'll be honest, I didn't even know colon cancer was a thing before he was diagnosed...
