2nd scan results from starting chemo

in Colorectal Cancer #1

Results showed my husband's 4 spots in lungs has grown just 1 to 2 cms since last scan.  Overall they are still small 5-6 cms.  One good thing is there is no new growth anywhere else.  So since starting chemo back in Sept. everything is gone except these few spots.

He switched to Folfiri 2 treatments ago from Folfox.  He also started taking Lyrica 5 days ago for neorothopy because the other med did not help. Folfiri treatment sure is making him sick.  He starts getting nausea as soon as he starts and it stays with him for at least 7 days.  The nausea med does not help him.  He was only sick for 2-3 days w/Folfox.

He just finished #17 chemo treatment.  I wonder if this ride will ever stop?

    I'm no longer a candidate for

    I'm no longer a candidate for chemo so they radiated my spots. I know radiation is bad for the body but it was very precise and only 4 treatments and it was easy and done. I have my CT scan this Friday to make sure it worked as it's got a 95% success rate. I wonder if this would be an easier route for your husband to go.

    Jan, I always wondered this

    Jan, I always wondered this also.  Onc. is still saying Chemo is the ONLY treatment for him.  He says there are no other options.  When we see him next I am going to ask about radiation.  I don't know if it is because if he stops chemo the cancer will come back or if the spots are in a place where radiation can't get to?  I do know that the spots are spread out in all the lobes.  I really can't see my  husband going thru chemo the rest of his life.  I know it is helping, but it has really run him down.  I think there will be a time when he says enough is enough.

    There might not be someone in

    There might not be someone in your area who is a specialist in this, that might be the issue. My onc who did the radiation said it's relatively new, in the past five years, but he thinks it will be the treatment of the future, that it will be the 'go to' treatment. But perhaps for your husband it is as you say, the chemo gets the spots but also gets any other cancer cells. I hope he can find something to get off of the chemo, it's a hard way to live.
