Lung Nodules

I had a Cat scan this past Monday and received the results on Tuesday with my oncologist.  I have had six chemo treatments with only minimal results on the first few scans.  This scan after chemo #6 show some nodules decreased by half and all significantly smaller.  The oncologist was really happy with the results.  After she finished  I told her that I started my Metformin and had increased it to 1000 mgs. a day with the help of my primary care doctor.  She said I think you are onto something.  The oncologist then increased me to 1500 mgs. a day.  Metformin does seem to work!

    Metformin

I had uterine cancer 27cm in Dec 2012 had total hysterectomy using Davinci. Then had bracytherapy.  Had recurrance to the lung in Dec 2014. had surgery removed middle lobe and the tumor. then had 6 chemo treatments. so far all is good. But my oncologist is not being positive about it coming back. He said it usually comes back eithin 2 years. I have my next scan in June. I am scared and dreading it. I have been on Metformin for 8 years am type 2 diabetic, really good news it helps fight the cancer. I have been reading a lot about nutrition and supplements I am now eating a  mostly plant based diet and starting some supplements. If any of you have facebook I am looking at the truth about cancer there. Its a more natural approach to fighting cancer. Would love to hear what others think about this.

Thanks for letting me ramble, hugs and good wishes to all of you, Cindy

Do you have any side effects from Metformin?  If so, what do you take for the side effects?

    Thank you for your help.

    I switched to the extended

I switched to the extended release Metformin and the side effects (diarrhea) really decreased.  I also take a probiotic every day and that seems to help too.  I take 1000 mg every night.

    TRUTH about Canceer

I also watched some of that presentation.  Not sure what to think, actually.  I believe I might have been more impressed if some of the presenters didn't look so shabby!  Perhaps a clean shirt?  It's hard to wade through all the material and decide whattot keep and what is not worth keeping.  I, too, would like to hear from others who are considering this presentation.

    I'm on 500mg Metformin now

    Hi Eldri,

I'm only on 500 mg. I asked my oncologist to put me on it. My sugars are, and have always been completely normal. Would you say that 500 is adequate? And have you had a scan since starting Metformin? Mine will be at the end of May - I am still in chemo treatment as well.  Always enjoy seeing your posts - so encouraging to others. xox

    Metformin

I have been on Metformin for years.  I started taking 1400 mg a day(Type 2).  I suspected I had something wrong(cancer, ect.) three years befor diagnoses.  It was a "C" grade UPSC.  I was a 1a.  After reading about the Metformin, I truly believe it kept my staging very low.  A "C" agression usually travels pretty fast.  Even after diagnoses of UPSC I had to wait five months to get the hysterectomy, and it was just 1a.  I now take 2000 mg of Metformin and have NO plans to stop!  js....
