Losing hair again!!!
Oh joy, my 1/2 inch long hair is now falling out again. Apparently my little follicles felt safe when I skipped taxol #5 and then #6 was delayed... and they started to grow. Oh the poor things, taxol #6 was completed mid April, and yup, just like the first time, I'm shedding. Oh well, it's not like it was really covering my head or anything. And on the plus side, the sun is out today and my head can stay warm. Hugs Nancy

Hugs
Hugs to you. Getting 2nd chemo tomorrow and anticipating the losing of the hair. I think I'm prepared but are we ever really prepared for this? Trying to keep chin propped up.

Hugs to both of you!! Losing
Hugs to both of you!! Losing hair, especially for women, is so tramatic. It it's any comfort mine is coming in but sticking straight out of my head. I look like I stuck my finger in a light socket - Alfalfa, I feel your pain!! I've been thinking about wetting it all down before I go to bed and wearing one of those pink rubber swim caps with holes poked in it (so my head doesn't get moldy overnight). Then hopefully when I get up in the morning, I'll peel off the cap and my hair will lie down flat and I'll look like Audrey Hepburn only with white hair and about 150# heavier. Well, a girl can dream!!
I sent my sister a picture of what I currently look like and she told me Billy Idol paid a lot of money to look like you - LOL!
Love you both!!

Rebel YellLOL, I'll practice that Rebel Yell and think of you, Susan!! The ONE good thing about being bald is that people are really nice to me!!! I always at least wear a scarf so I don't scare little kids but I've been going out more and more without my wig.

Lost mine too
Mine is gone again, too. I had a break from chemo while getting radiation treatment and my hair grew back nice an thick. Within 15 days of my next chemo treatment is was falling out in clumps. My sweet hubby helped me shave it off again. Back to my pretty scarves...

I was admiring your picture with your scarf. You have the perfect face shape for short/no hair & scarves. Mine is round/square and I look like a bald person trying for a gypsy look when I wear my scarves like yours. I made the mistake of wearing a black sweater today, and I have to brush the hair off the back whenever I go into the ladies room, it's really shedding whenever I move or touch my head. And of course, now my head itches again, so I have to refrain from that.

You really own that scarf!! I wish I could do that but I tend to look more like Sha-goon-da-la from the old country when I wear the babushka.

i haven't bought any scarfs yet either. I'm afraid it would not be my look either, more of a babushka face, too. But I agree, our gal rocks them!

I had my "coming out" party on Monday. For the first time, I went out in public without a scarf and bangs. While I have a long way to go to have real girlie hair, this was a huge decision for me and very freeing. I don't believe I will be using the scarves and bangs ever again. My hair color has turned very strange. I don't even know what to call it. But, at least my head isn't bald and shiny.
Today, I had my sutures removed from the port removal last week. So, just over 4 months post chemo I'm putting it behind me.
You are so darn close to putting it behind you! Hang in there and in a few weeks, you will begin to watch your hair come back. :-)

Sandy, I hated the ET look.SandyD said:Getting pretty damn tired of the scarves!
No wig for me. Not the wig type (plus I figure with summer coming a wig will be uncomfortable).
Also sick of the ET look since I've lost most of my eyebrows and eyelashes!!!!!!!!
Sandy, I hated the ET look. That really was the hardest part. I did draw on eyebrows and used eyeliner. It helped define my face and made me feel a lot better. Also, I couldn't wear wigs due to hot flashes. Wearing a scarf was hard enough. I did use bangs under the scarf and that helped me feel better about how I looked. And, it didn't add any heat to my head.
Hope this helps!

Once mine starts coming out I just shave it all off. I find it quite cathartic. Sort of like - boom, I have control over something again.

Thank you, Eldri. I watched a bunch of online videos to figure out how to work with them. Never thought that I'd be able to get the hang of them but just kept plugging along until it worked.
