The Waiting Is The Hardest Part

Well kind of.  Scans done today and waiting.  Bloodwork done and I have results, other than CEA which is the one I want to see.

Turns out a few CRC types were waiting, including yours truly, for testing today.  We spent some time putting some minds at ease for newbies and their family.  CRC people rock :)

We wind up grouped by testing

We wind up grouped by testing intervals, little clusters who watch, wait, and worry about the tests and scans, and then celebrate or commiserate about results. Sue [TruBrit] hit 2 years NED with results today. I'm just setting my appts. with the onc mid-June and scan around July 1ish, and being stoked for her makes me happy and itchy to hit that 2 year mark, myself. I tend to then temper my thought with those still battling to get clear or even contain this crap, but there's plenty of time to feel sad, when a happy moment shows up, you gotta go with it for all it's worth. I look forward to celebrating your's.............................................Dave

Glad to hear the scan is over. Hopefully the drink went down well, and now its over for what, three, six months?

Will you get your CEA results along with the scan results?

For most people there is no

For most people there is no reason one should have to wait more than 24 hours for any lab or scan result.  I have never gone more than 24 hours without getting the radiologist report.  Only one time I went 2 days and that was when I was first diagnosed.  It was a PET scan done on Christmas Eve.  The scans were supposed to have been read and turned around in about 2 hours.  I got the results 2 days later because obviously no one was working on Christmas.  I've typically gotten the scan results the same day as my scan.  I just make sure I have my scan scheduled in the morning.  I then ask if they've been busy and when to call back in to see if the report is done.

Even if you don't ask for the report, you should always ask for the scan images before you leave.  They should be able to give you a CD before leaving.

If waiting for scan results causes you anxiety, there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be more proactive and push to get the results within 24 hours of having the scan done.
